How Much is 'X' Rune Worth [Pricing Guide]

Seen trades on the forums many times and is shocked how oblivious new players are about the value of HRs.

Plagiarizing the format of https://www.reddit.com/r/slashdiablo/co ... une_worth/, but things obviously are not quite the same.

The key thing to understand is that runes don't always trade at cube ratio (but getting closer to it over time, with the exceptions of Lo/ Sur and Jah/ Cham). Cubing 2 x Gul to Vex and 2 x Cham to Zod is fine, 2x Sur to Ber is popular and possibly one of the best ways to get a Ber.

Don't let the number intimate you, think all HRs in Ist's. In D2 trading world an Ist is like a dollar.

Lem = 1/12 Ist
Pul = 2 Lem = 1/6 Ist
Um = 2 Pul = 1/3 Ist
Mal = Um + Pul = 1/2 Ist
Ist (base currency)
Gul = 1/2 Vex = 1.75 Ist
Vex = 2 Gul = 3 Ist + Mal = 3.5 Ist
Ohm = 2 Vex = 7 Ist
Lo = 2 Ohm = 14 Ist
Sur = Lo + 3 Ist = 17 Ist
Ber = 2 Sur = 34 Ist
Jah = Ber - Vex = 30.5 Ist
Cham = 4 Ist
Zod = 2 Cham = 8 Ist

This one ^ being completely out of date, here is an update on the runes value on Non ladder, SC, PC, with high runes being super cheap now (June 12 2023):

For ladder, prices fluctuate a lot at start (wity typically Ber / Lo / Ohm / Vex being expensive) then converge to NL prices towards end of season.

Pul - 2 x Lem
Um - Pul + Lem
Mal - Um + Pul
Ist - Mal + Um - Ist is the "unit"
Gul - Ist + Mal
Vex - 3 Ist
Ohm - 4-5 Ist
Lo - 5-6 Ist
Sur - 7-8 Ist
Ber - 10-11 Ist
Jah - 15-20 Ist
Cham - about same as Vex to Ohm
Zod - about same as Lo to Sur

Do remember that the prices fluctuate : click on each rune to check its latest trades for current value.

Your mileage will vary, but a fair trade should not deviate too far off these numbers unless you are making a conscious choice. Generally, people seek a healthy profit when they are not in a hurry (no longer the case as HRs are recently in higher demand), but multiple Ist's profits particularly targeted at obvious new players are just predatory.

Occasionally you'll run into sick people when trading HRs on BN who ask you to Ctrl+Click on the rune (which is a short cut for drop item on the Ground). Those are the lowest form scammers who sell runes on eBay and never do what they told you to!

Finding an HR from the monster drop is like winning a mini lottery, so don't fall for those complicated packages that are designed to trick you!

Yes i always put the important notes at the top of each section. Sometimes the notes/disclaimers are more important than the actual specific info lol.

So i shouldn't credit anyone specifically? I don't like to cannibalize things without giving credit where its due.

Great write up, my only feedback is do you really think Lo is worth more than Sur?

Lo for me would be somewhere between Ohm and Sur.

Lo is definitely worth more than Sur. Sur is essentially useless until it is transmuted with another Sur.

Being able to make both Grief and Fortitude makes Lo essentially the most sought after HR. Jah, Ber and Lo are the biggies.

Yeah I agree, but still you get half a Ber with Sur, which is what many want for Enigma and Infinity! No doubt Lo is worth a lot but more then Sur I am not sure. Guess that is what makes trading fun, that you have different views.

ya but its all about having/getting that 2nd Sur to make Ber. What if you get stuck for a long ass time trying to find one or trade for one? Then your one Sur is useless. VS a Lo you can use immediately to make Grief or Fort since its the hardest part to get.

And I guess that might also depend on what chars you play. To physical/melee focused players Lo can be worth more since they aim for both Grief/Fortitude. And for caster mainly players you go for Enigma/Infinity. That might influence how you feel about their value!

Looked at some old trades, you are correct, Lo tops Sur a bit.

Yeah it's all situational, 1-2 weeks ago equal trades between Lo and Sur were common, even between Jah and Ber. Now Sur and Jah are clearly falling behind in recent trades. I guess is that people really wanted Enigma in the first rush, now that many already have it they now need to beef up their mercs with a Fortitude (speaking as a caster which is the most popular choice early in the progression). Enigma base is also far easier to find than an Eth armor with 800+ defense.

My views are certainly caster biased but from what I observe so is the market. Which is why my next char will be a Druid (bargains everywhere!)

You do need to take everything I said with a grain of salt, but the main point is here to save newbies from the disappointment of trading their hard-earned Ber with a pile of 12-13 Ist crap

Solid guide, imo would be great if a bot auto replied with that guideline for any rune trade. Prevent hosing newer players who just found a Ber and think "omg someone offering me a Zod which is rarer for it!"

Sur itself values 1ist less than Lo. in past several weeks
2Lo= Ber (still going this way)
1Lo= Sur+ Ist (go up to Gul during weekend)

With Lo = Sur + Ist, Ber = 2 Lo makes no sense at all.
The rune exchanges in here are getting ridiculous and I'm actually starting to call out any trade that tries to rip off players.
