About diablo2.io

What is the main purpose of the site?

Diablo2.io is a searchable & filterable database that is growing to account for every item entity in Diablo 2.

The main goal of the site is to document the details of and the relationships between in-game objects in a way that is easy to navigate and understand. The secondary goal of the site is to build content and web tools around this core database - stuff like trading, a holy grail tracker, character build tool etc. The tertiary goal is to establish a community hub where players can share their wisdom and be rewarded for doing so.

Are there any plans for further development?

Yes. If you're interested in knowing what is in store for diablo2.io in the future, visit the Development Roadmap topic.

Some of the upcoming features include a skill & character build calculator that interfaces with a large library of user-submitted 'builds', a dynamic explorable world map with pins and static objects, drop rates from monsters, a holy grail tracking tool, a speedrun leaderboard, and finally a blue tracker.

How was the site built? What did you use?

The site is built with a mix of HTML, CSS, jQuery/vanilla JS and finally PHP. I use no unified development environment or stack. phpBB performs a lot of the heavy lifting back-end, with extensive modifications to the core and extensions. I designed and coded the GUI/UX myself, using a mix of my own original art as well as adapted in-game art and graphics.

If you're interested in the tools, programs, resources, and other building blocks that I used, then head on over to Credits where I provide sources.

Is there anything I can do to help contribute to the site?

If you're interested in contributing to the project with your own skills and knowledge, please visit this topic where I have detailed the numerous ways in which you can help the site grow and develop. You don't need technical or artistic skills to make a massive difference to the site's content and feature set - all that is required is enthusiasm for the game.

I hope that you enjoy using diablo2.io. If you have any comments or suggestions, you can post in the Site Feedback forum. Cheers!
