Can be used to make Runewords:
Hi all,
If you Zod an item with native skill charges eg Teleport, does the Zod stop you from being able to repair (recharge) the item at an NPC blacksmith?
Just a hypothetical… and just curious.
TIA.

Flexible but mostly trade is UTC+1 evenings. Note timezone differences: several hours ahead of US / behind Asia. Prompt but don't expect instant. This ain't Traderie.

Zod replaces an item's durability with the Ages affix (Indestructible) and increases an item's level requirement to 69. It does nothing else.
That's correct but also misleading. He might get the feeling that you can recharge items with a Zod in it but these will all be ethereal and you cannot repair and recharge items when they are ethereal. The Zod is neither helping nor making it worth, correct. If the item is not Eth, you would be insane to put a Zod in it.
OP never said it was ethereal, which is why i didn't get into that important fact regarding ethereal items.mikelessar wrote: 3 hours agoThat's correct but also misleading. Chaps. Sorry; what have I started?!
I was not thinking of the Runeword scenario. I was thinking simply of placing a Zod into an item with a socket, where that item already had an attribute with charges, such as Teleport. So for example, say Spellsteel, that low level non ethereal Axe. If you (for reasons beyond comprehension) decided to socket and Zod it, would that the prevent you from recharging the item at an NPC blacksmith?
The query arose as I was pondering the fact that Zod makes things indestructible which means those items don’t ever need to be repaired as the durability will cease to matter. But I then wondered whether the Zod would prevent you from taking it to a blacksmith for repair if you wanted to repair the charges on that item, or would the hammer item be greyed out?
I was already aware than Zod in an Ethereal item with charges means that you can’t repair those charges, but I understood that is due to the item being ethereal.
I then wondered whether having a Zod in a non- Eth item with charges might prevent you from getting it repaired altogether.. would you still be able to activate the repair item button and apply it to a non- Eth with charges, and which had a Zod in it.
A really niche and unlikely to occur scenario I guess, but it’s the kind of D2 question that can keep one awake at night!
I think the first poster answered the question succinctly. Zod affects durability only. No effect on charges so you can still repair those.
Ty for your thoughts on this one though!!

But why do you think about putting a Zod in a non-ethereal item?
This has probably never been done (intentionally).

You have never had a thought about how something works, even if you never wanted to actually try it?mikelessar wrote: 37 minutes agoBut why do you think about putting a Zod in a non-ethereal item?

I did and do, generally, but not in this case. Since you can recharge Oath which is "indestructable".ShadowHeart wrote: 34 minutes agoYou have never had a thought about how something works, even if you never wanted to actually try it?mikelessar wrote: 37 minutes agoBut why do you think about putting a Zod in a non-ethereal item?
