Can be used to make Runewords:
This will irreversibly destroy any gems, runes, and/or jewels socketed into the item.
Commonly used to "reroll" cheap runewords with variable affixes, such as Spirit, so the player doesn't have to find a new base item.
Ok, so this the way to remove stuff from sockets. Is there a way to save stuff thats being socketed and use it later with new gear?!
For example if a prismatic jewel drops early in the game and I want to socket it in bad gear that I will discard later but want to keep the jewel again for better stuff.
Edit:
Mod answer - no way. What is socketed is lost when using that recipe and the recipe is the only way to unsocket.
So do not put great jewel/rune in a bad base !

The reason Hel runes are always in demand and trade at a value disproportionate to their rarity.
