Black Cleft question - overcoming Magic resistance penalty?

No data yet

2

Description

The way sundering charms work seems pretty straightforward - breaking monster immunities (95% resistance instead) but lowering your own resistance to the same element.

What confuses me is the "magic resistance" penalty of
Black Cleft
(Hammerdin/Bonemancer charm) - as far as I know, there is no way (as a player) to increase your "magic" resistance - only the four "elements" can be found on gear.

How does one overcome the "magic" resistance penalty of
Black Cleft
? Or does it just mean you need to extra careful around monsters that do "magic" damage?

Can be used to make Runewords:

Technically, there are items that have MDR or Magic damage reduced.
But I guess most people are just careful around high magic damage monsters.

e.g. :
Mal
rune,
Vampire Gaze

All prices are negotiable.
All trades are Non-Ladder.

Spirit
Monarch
has Magic absorb and the
Safety Shield
also has magic resist but is never used there is a Famine of magic resist items, would be nice to see some added in the future

Here are (unfortunately, pre-D2R) lists of items with Magic Resist, Magic Absorb and Magic Damage Reduced. The last stat, despite its name, protects from magic and elemental (fire, lightning, cold) damage.

Goes both ways for
Black Cleft
. You can't realistically (read: without dropping
Key
pieces of gear for some silly
Safety Shield
) counter the % res reduction on yourself.

And you can't add to the % reduction on your target.

So not only does it come with what is effectively the biggest penalty out of all sunders but it also comes with the smalles (by a landslide) gain, to the point of basically being just a complete waste of a grand charm slot.
