Lore

In order to survive the unforgiving lands of the north, the people of the Barbarian tribes have developed hardy resistances to the common elements.

Heat and cold alike are something they endure often.

Since food is scarce while foraging, they have learned to consume species of plants that would slay normal men.

Through additional training, a warrior can further fortify himself against these dangers, allowing him to better survive while traveling to unfamiliar lands and battling unknown foes.

This skill has diminishing returns, i.e. each skill point increases the skill effect less than the previous one. For this reason consider treating this skill as "one point wonder" - invest only 1 skill point and let the skill bonuses from items do the rest.

In my opinion, one of the best "one-point wonders" in the entire game. With even a modest +skills from items it can generously round out a Barb's resistances, especially in Hell.

The icon for
Natural Resistance
and the icon for
Berserk
each appear to be better suited to the other skill; this ostensibly erroneous swap has been the case since v1.0.

Before the 1.10 patch and runewords it was very difficult to finish the game on hell mode with other characters that found themselves struggling with resistances. In other words classes have to rely heavily on items to boost them up.
Enter the barbarian, with the single most underrated ability in the entire game. The fact that it always stays on and you dont have to reuse or recast it like(assasin
Fade
, or paladin
Salvation
) means its the easiest choice to max out your resistances up to 75. Plug in couple of skill points (usually a one point wonder) and forget. XD
