Hey guys, looking at warlock (still level 12...) skill tabs, I just realized that they were soooo close to Necros. (Apart from sharing same breakpoints, same "special item slot" for shield...

Demon <--> Summoning

Bind Demon is a sort of mix between Revive and Iron Golem, other summons to skellies and mages.
Mastery on the left... but covers all masteries. Other differ.

Chaos <--> Poison and Bone

3 skills on left side with one element (Poison <-> Fire), Bone Teeth/ Spear/Spirit ressembles Miasma and Abyss, others are into Sigils

Eldritch <--> Curses

The least look alike, but hexes and curses can obviously be seen similar. The issue with necro curses is that only 4 are really useful (Amp, Dim Vision for HC, Decrep, Lower Res) and they indeed only kept some and introduced other nice stuffs instead.

To sum up, isn't the warlock a sort of improved necro (as a necro player, I cry a bit now) ?
And that may also have ensured a not too buggy implementation by starting on something well tested (and that's probably a good idea!)

it's like a better necromancer.
The Chaos tree is a much better version of the poison tree IMO. It all synergizes so well and doesn't have to deal with damage over time.

The demon tree is also just a way better summoning tree lol. Especially with Bind Demon and Blood Boil.

The eldritch tree is really more of a melee tree than a curse tree IMO. With Cleave, Mirrored Blades, and the all powerful Echoing Strike.

Currently playing SSF Offline only
95 Javazon - 94 fire ball sorc - 91 Frenzy barb
91 Dragon Tail assassin - 87 hammerdin - 95 fire warlock - 84 Fury druid
Offline milestones achieved: Enigma, Phoenix, Grief, Fortitude, Obsession, Infinity, Death

it's really more akin to a druid tree?
1 path for elemental (Chaos)
1 path for summoning (demon)
and 1 path for "melee" (shapeshifting/eldritch)

My Warlock is also lvl 13 and the game play, at least at this lvl, does feel like a a bit like a necro. I've got my Goatman ( Skeleton) following me around. I'm casting Sigil: Lethargy ( Weaken) and attacking with Echoing Strike ( Bone Spear).

If you are offering my asking for price, please feel free to add me on bnet or xbox, you do not need to wait for my confirmation.

Hmm

I dont see warlock to be nec 2.0,

WL summon is limited, u cant really do full summon (army wise) like the necro.

Eldtritch tree on WL doesnt seem to share much of necro curses. WL hexes is static Ground based and only has a few, while other branch of eldritch tree focus on physical melee/range damage(not similar to nec curse at all :)), if anything WL eldtritch could give throw barb a run for the money.

Another overlooked nec curse is Attract, this thing makes you invisible to mobs

One thing curses and hexes have in common between nec n wl, is that many moons ago, there were hex charms that somehow made it on closed battlenet, i was there and were having blast using them. Maybe Bliz took the ‘hex’ naming and applied it to WL class…

Chaos tree on WL doesnt share anything similar to nec, if anything, Chaos tree on WL shares similarity to sorc fire tree… fire Nova? That should be part of sorc fire tree, not WL :)

Thats my take on this :)

Can trade on PC or SWITCH

Warlock is every previous class but better. There is even a Bowlock.

I mostly play many different sosos, and among them mostly fire soso.
It's hard to admitt, but Lock is often better Fire Sorc. Not always, but often.

In response.. Lightning Bolt you to the face!

No, the Warlock is the secret love child of a Necromancer and Sorceress. My Warlock is at level 85. :D

You can heal your daemon completely by using just one corpse. And you can Teleport the demon though walls to kill enemies behind the wall. Bind Demon and Blood Boil feels more like Hydra Sorceress without single target damage or like an Amazon casting Valkyrie. It is quite unique and it was very tanky in SC. Therefore, I am making one last attempt to play HC.

Most stuff is stolen from D3. Echoing Strike is a bit like Autolancer. Sigils and Ring of Fire are stolen from the Monk. Blade Warp is as weird as the Teleport in D3. Miasma Bolt is Magic Missile. Cleave is Slash from the Crusader. And so on...

I thought the Necro from D3 had a baby with the D2 Paladin and you have a Warlock. It plays so fast.

LF:HRs, Perfect Gems, Perfect Amethyst, Hel, Ral, Key of Hate Key of Terror Key of Destruction. Do not ask me how much an item is worth value is perceived. Please use the price checking tool before posting an offer please.

The necro should get an update to distinguish it a bit more. Perhaps give it some advanced tactics.. undead SWAT team!

That's my vote. The summoning skills need a buff, but also, I should be able to direct my mindless husks without using a skill. Just "go there", "come here", "attack that" set up like the automatic unsummon skill would be a huge boost.

Old man still killing demons and yelling at clouds.

I think warlock might have some daddy issues. When he goes into the Burial Grounds he says, "Pah, undead make for such poor servants."
