As it is seen here my merc has different stats with different sword combinations. He has Grief and Headstriker with Treachery and Vampire Gaze. When Grief on right, IAS doesn't apply and it only shows IAS from armor. When Headstriker is on right then deadly strike doesn't apply. Is this always like this?
Can be used to make Runewords:

I'm having the same issue... Don't know the answer, just commenting to follow.basicnecromancy wrote: 2 years ago As it is seen here my merc has different stats with different sword combinations. Deadly strike is applied to each weapon separately. You are not critting 100% of the time with both weapons, just with Headstriker. Grief will keep the 20% it has. It wouldn't make sense to show you the total of them.
The base speed of the Frenzy swing will be calculated as the mean value between weapon bases, so -15 (-30 for Phase Blade and 0 for Conquest Sword). Using the faster weapon in mainhand (left) is the way to go - the IAS from off-hand is not even part of the equation.
Breakpoints:
50 IAS (poorly rolled Grief + Andariel's Visage) = 4 stacks of Frenzy to reach max speed.
56 IAS to reach max at 3 stacks
68 (35% andy + 33% Grief) at 2 stacks.
If you are using Arreat's Face instead (with Cham perhaps), then you will need at least a 39% Grief to reach max speed at 6 stacks. Basically, however, Treachery on Frenzy barb merc with Grief is a waste of an armor slot (Fortitude rocks).

If you get a PM offer, post it in the trade. Promote healthy competition instead of settling for less.
OP
Thank you for the answer. I have neither Andy's nor Fortitude so this is the best combination I have yet. Instead of Treachery, maybe Duress?Queegon wrote: 2 years ago Deadly strike is applied to each weapon separately. You are not critting 100% of the time with both weapons, just with Headstriker. Not entirely sure about IAS, but...

I advise using the faster weapon in mainhand (left) - it seems the IAS from off-hand might not even be part of the equation. Your off-weapon IAS and mainhand IAS are definitely part of it.

Yeah, it's hilarious, I love it as well
Btw, @basicnecromancy why are you using Vampire Gaze on your merc, instead of, say, Arreat's Face?

How did you come to these conclusions? Did you use an attack speed calculator? Maxroll's D2 Planner?
I'm working on act 5 Frenzy merc, too. Your help will be appreciated.
Interested as well, so for my full Sazabi + Plague a5 Frenzy merc I need to put Sazabi sword on main and Plague on off for better speed. Would have done the reverse way (best weapon on main) if you hadnt told me
Main: Necromancer / Second: Assassin / Third: Amazon / Check my stash, my crafts and my many cheap Annihilus
I just finished a bunch of testing with my act 5merc and a big winner was an Eth Djinn Slayer with 2 ed jewels, itās fast already with decent damage without needing crazy high rune words.
Unbending Will in a Phase Blade is good too. (I think I landed on this one in the end, at least until I can build a Last Wish - which is going to take a while offline)
I always kept the Grief in the left slot. I just assumed itād be the first to hit

What I have observed, using a simple setup with only a blood moon unique sword and a sazabis cobalt redeemer set sword on my act5 Frenzy merc:
On the merc detailed statistics pane,...
- in "idle" it will always show the abilities of the sword in the RIGHT gear slot of the merc (the visual right side as we see it, looking at the screen).
- when the merc is fighting, the abilities shown on the detailed statistics pane will switch back and forth between the two swords (but never show both their abilities at once).
I'm not sure what info to generate from this, I just wanted to mention it. Speedwise, there didn't seem to be a difference from swapping left and right sword, but I might be wrong there...

Right hand (left side of the screen) = main hand
Left hand (right side of the screen) = off hand
It's best to put Headstriker as offhand or your "second" weapon whatever it is. I used a lot of Djinn Slayer (with ED/max dmg/IAS jewels but not perfect ones ofc) + Frostwind and it was quite good for Frenzy Merc. Something else budget-like I know works is Azurewrath + Headstriker but also something like Grief + Bloodmoon can be very effective.
Alternatively you can use Lawbringer and Crescent Moon or Death (which is way more expensive tho).
The best combo people will suggest is Grief + Last Wish (with setup of your pic no. 2) although some argue that the ultimate dmg for Act 5 Frenzy Merc is double ethereal Headstriker (can't test that myself).
Some things that are good on paper but don't really work as good as things mentioned above are Lightsabre, Unbending Will, Plague...

Someone much smarter than me already said once: "The real value of something doesn't reflect in a number of how much a seller can ask for it, but on how much a buyer is willing to pay."
So i did actually do a dual Eth upped & Ohmād headstrikers, just to see if it was (as Iād heard) the best Dps of any mercā¦and it sadly wasnāt, at least for me. Dual griefs and single Grief and a Last Wish ended up seeming faster. But to be honest i didnāt time them both in the same areas.
An act 2 might merc with a Great Poleaxe ebotd and a source of amp damage is better than any act 5 merc set-up though. (Sorry thatās off topic).

B: Grief + Headstriker at max speed (at 2 hits from Frenzy and 10 frames still at 41k+), Ohm or ED/MaxDMG jewel inside
C: Grief + Grief
Theoretical D: double Headstriker has bad speed as well as no on-weapon IAS for mainhand. Mainhand wants a weapon with IAS on it.
B is a clear winner over C. Last Wish does more than just damage, so you be the judge of what you want from your merc.

for those who can't (or won't) afford 4 HRs -full sazabi's plus Hustle
OP
How about stack equality? Grief + Headstriker part has 6 stacked Frenzy but the others have 2. In addition, I'm using Hustle + LW, any idea about that?Queegon wrote: 11 months agoFrom maxrollNate2.0 wrote: 11 months ago So i did actually do a dual Eth upped & Ohmād headstrikers, just to see if it was (as Iād heard) the best Dps of any mercā¦and it sadly wasnāt, at least for me. If you are using your act5 merc as might-on-a-stick go for Last Wish, as I already mentioned above. Any armor is a downgrade from Fortitude from raw DPS standpoint (ED>IAS); on powerful act5 even more so than on the other mercs. Not even mentioning the Chilling Armor here. For Hustle's case you are giving up ~30% of DPS.
Only thing to consider is headgear. Arreat's Face does much more for him than an Andariel's Visage but with 15IAS jewel inside andy you can reach the 45k+ in 2 swings rather than 6, if you care for that.
Personally, I'm using the double Last Wish with Crown of Thieves (just for the extra LL and gold over arreat) and Guardian Angel. Pure Travincal goldfind barbarian's buddy, so just tough-as-nail aura, don't care for his DPS.
