Well, with shard's dropping highly increased in latest patch and heralds spawning being possible thru ordinary minion, i think we all can afford being more picky concerning the zones we'll invest time in. Also, the new system seems to favour density over quality. Too bad Cow Level is not terrorized thru A1 shard
I ended up with a routine like this:
What is your routine? only S-Tier Zones? only A1 and 2? only Tombs? non-solo public games?

You shouldn't terrorize all acts at once. If you disconnect or something you lose the shards. Terrorize an act, clear it, terrorize next act
I tried to chain farm a couple of times and gave up without results. Now I just play for fun, terrorizing 1-2 acts and killing areas I like, starting with the boss. 0 sunders from a few dozen heralds, but got one Crack of the Heavens from a random mob in Chaos Sanctuary

I kill monsters, Heralds spawn, I kill them. Pretty neat.
My sorceress is running a very moderate ~200%, she's more tuned towards damage. About half of that is from Enigma, the rest is from charms, über jewel, and self-wielded Infinity. Two in about… oh, maybe ten fully cleared acts, and maybe 1 Herald per zone (so maybe some 10-15 heralds per act). That's a very small sample size though, so I wouldn't pay too much attention to it. If you want to farm sunders, I guess it's about balancing MF vs clearing speed and then just spending those shards and grinding those hours. They'll drop eventually.

Haven't found anything of value off T5 heralds since the patch, unfortunately. However, I did find 4 sunders and many dozens of uniques off the T5s prior to the patch.
The overall loot quantity and quality off the T5s seems to have decreased dramatically since the patch.
Will take perfect amethysts, perfect rubies, keys, statues or tokens for most of my trades
