There's no simple answer to that. It depends on which skill it is, how high your skill level already is and what other factors affect your damage.

I think for my fire Warlock it was around 4%, when I was comparing various Opalvein vs. SOJ options.

But it depends on current skill level and other factors. Generally the lower your skill level the higher the pct increase.

Well, I just tested it by swapping the actual gear and looking at the character screen. But if you want an answer before swapping the gear:

1) Total your current gear, jewels and sunders that adds % cold damage. Let's say it totals +50% right now. Then a +5% cold damage ring will add (155%/150% - 1) damage, or 3.33% damage

2) +skills doesn't effect synergies, it only impacts the base skill. So use an online table to see what the non-synergized damage % increase is from your current level +1.

For Blizzard, if your current skill level is level 40, then from this table we can see an additional +1 (lvl 41) will take the non synergized damage from: 1770-1839 (1804.5 avg) to 1835-1905 (1870 avg). That represents a 3.6% damage increase.

Note that for a fire or lightning sorc, you also have to take into account fire and Lightning Mastery + damage %. But in that case there is no need to calculate - the +1 skill will always be better.

doesnt appear to be a great difference, im better off using soj or bul kathos with better stats on them than spending for an opal ring
thanks
Yes the main use case for Opalvein is when you need the 10 pct fcr but don’t want to Sacrifice damage by dropping the soj

I still dont understand the hype or need for perfect fcr breakpoint
my sorc 1 shots 95 percent of monsters almost instantly, its more about accurate aiming of the blizzard than anything else
Ice Bolt is fast and 1 shots those that get close and miss the blizzard

well if you are on 95 so its the same as 63% fcr, next fcr breakpoint is 105 fcr so you will be casting spell faster

After playing a low fcr javazon, i went back to my main fire warlock and replaced high fcr gear with about 200 mf and haven't really seen a difference materially impacting playability. That said warlock probably needs it the least of all the casters.

cold sorc doesnt need fcr , that is why you dont feel it.

Some Trade is available for both rotw and LoD, Most rune , Perfect Gems is only in LoD side.

Blizzard does not need a high fcr breakpoint. Correct.

But for Teleport you do want high fcr. Just make a small comparison: Teleport from the River of Flames waypoint to the Chaos Sanctuary with 105 fcr and again with 20 or 37.

i used maxrolls planner and with the gear i have and skill tree im getting 15/16k blizzard damage and 7k Ice Bolt in game on my screen

but max rolls showing 26-28k blizzard damage and just 4k

is it not fully reliable?
Are you looking at damage per cast? or "Damage per second"?
Also you can adjust which monster type it calculates off of, accounting for resistances etc.

i see that now, just confusing some with the planner and what it shows in game
