Description

Hi,

I'm about to create my first pair of Mosaic Claws (yay) but I'm not sure which of these bases would be the best use. I only have the runes for two, so I have to be selective.
Any tips are appreciated :)

I would say go for Phoenix Strike, it seems to be a thing. So 2x to Phoenix Strike

OP
Does it matter that the one with +2 Phoenix Strike is only the excelptional version?
The one with +1phoenix, 1+ Blades of Ice is the elite one.

Tbh I dont know that. I would imagine higher quality is better for physical dmg and dura or something? doesnt affect the ability dmg or such

Greater Talons are actually better than Runic Talons, unless you are planning to use Dragon Claw (which is considered a suboptimal choice). Usually Mosaic assassins use Dragon Talon or Dragon Tail. Damage of these skills depends on your boots; claws only provide attack speed, and since both Greater Talons and Runic Talons are the fastest claws available, the only real difference is their requirements.

If I were you, I would wait until the last days of the season before creating ladder-only runewords. Imagine finding a godly Mosaic base right after spending your runes on mediocre one! But if you want to create them right now for your own character (not for trade), then use any two from your list - the only real difference here is trade value. Even with two plain 3 os claws Mosaic kicksin can tear through anything with ease. In terms of damage the best choice is +X to Phoenix Strike and its single-elemental peers, so - options 2 and 3 from your list.

First of all, if you’re going to use Dragon Talon, the physical damage on the claws isn’t going to matter at all except when building up charges (and that’s such a small part of the overall gameplay, damage doesn’t even really matter then, you’re just looking to hit anything to build charges). When releasing charges using Dragon Talon it uses your boots kick damage rather than your equipped weapon as a base, since it’s a kick skill. Only if you intend to use Dragon Claw as your finisher of choice will the claw’s physical damage really matter. Either way, the majority of the damage from using Mosaic will be elemental damage, for which claw base damage is irrelevant.

Runic Talons thus just basically has higher requirements than Greater Talons, they are equal in terms of attack speed (and durability, if one cares about that).

Besides the obvious choice of one with Phoenix Strike, having one with Dragon Flight isn’t a bad idea as it saves you 3 skill points.

I summed up my personal views and tips about this topic in the following post a while back:

tl;dr you’re going to melt things either way.

I agree, unfortunately, I'll be gone gone for a bit and not exactly sure when I will be back to find better ones. Afaik, the season should end sometime early June.

Oh its ending in June already? I was soo darn late to the season it seems. Dunno why I bothered. Might aswell just stop playing as I wont be able to get the Enigma or anything other useful stuff :'DD thought there was month or two still.

OP
I don't think there is any official announcement, just extrapolating from the previous seasons.

Start by asking yourself what is more important, getting a "free skill" from them, or getting the biggest bonus to your primary use skills.

Getting Dragon Flight and mindblast without having to put skillpoints to get them is quite nice, but only if you actually USE those skills.
Saving 6 skillpoints is not a small thing.

But if you don't use those skills, well, then maxing an attack skill is better.
Although the one with just +1 PS really feels underwhelming.
I would not spend the runes without getting at least +2 bonus to something useful.

And since a lot of people are very fanatic about only getting the BEST bases for runewords, there's a decent chance you can simply ask if someone has a +2 for whichever skill you prefer and get it cheap or for free.

If it was me, i would go with the Mindblast one for sure, it's a very good niche skill that can also be used to get out of bad situations same as Necro's Confuse.

And probably the Dragonflight one with that. Again because of the utility of the skill and because 6 skillpoints more in the elemental skills is a lot.

But take note, that i've still never played a Mosaic assa.
Still levelling the one i have the gear for.
So i have no personal experience yet.

In fact it's not such a big deal. Kicksin actually has no good way to spend all her 110 skillpoints. For example, mine is at level 80 and already maxed Phoenix Strike, Claws of Thunder, Blades of Ice and Tiger Strike, plus one point in Claw Mastery, Burst of Speed, Weapon Block, Fade, Dragon Talon, Fists of Fire and Cobra Strike. I have Dragon Flight from one of my claws, but even if I spend 3 skill points on it I will still end up with 20 unspent skillpoints when I hit level 99. And I don't know what to spend them on.
  • Traps? Don't have time to use them in battle (I have Death Sentry from a claw but never used it).
  • Max Dragon Talon? It will make build weaker - everything dies in seconds anyway, and locking yourself in kicking animation decreases actual DPS.
  • Mind Blast? A nice skill indeed, it increases survivability, but you know what also increases survivability? Vaporising all enemies around you with a single kick.
  • Level Shadow Warrior or Shadow Master? On paper it looks like a free DPS and survivability increase, but it's actually worthless. Even having a mercenary feels like a liability sometimes, because he kills things I would like to use for building/renewing charges. (The most annoing part of being kicksin is being obligated to hit things every 15 seconds, or your charges will expire).
So I guess I'll level Fists of Fire a little bit (this skill shouldn't be maxed, because it gets in a way of your leech, but having it at level ~15 should be OK) and put remaining skills in Fade or Weapon Block.

Doesn't Tiger Strike make your ssin a little worse against non-bosses?
(As it increase the chance of killing your main target with 1st/2nd Dragon Talon kick and this would trigger less "explosions" 🤔)
(I just made my 1st Mosaic assassin this month - so pretty newbie with it 😉🤗)

Only the first kick releases charges. On the other side, maxed Tiger Strike makes life leech way more efficient.

No, all kicks (that hit) do release charges (you can see the multiples novas, explosions and ice bolts waves when you do a multi-hit kick 😉💥)
Just look the difference between use Dragon Talon (with many kicks) and Dragon Flight or Dragon Tail (that deliver just 1 kick) 😉

About the leech, when I'm feeling a little lazy (and in a low players count) I don't always use Cobra Strike 🤔 (most of the time I just charge Phoenix Strike and Claws of Thunder 😝)

Actually without Mosaic and with a 3 kick Dragon Talon, you can delivery Charge 3, charge 2 and then charge 1 with a single finisher (I used that trick while leveling before starting using Mosaic 😉)

Wait, whats wrong with Venom skill? Not that I have ever used it as im a trapsin fan. I love the traps. That sounds wrong when taken out of context tbh...

At least online (offline is slightly different), every time you hit a monster, their life regen gets interrupted for a few frames. Poison deals damage via negative life regen, so it doesn't work for the first few frames after being hit. It gets worse if you hit the monster often, as each hit resets the "no life regen" counter.

Offline, I believe it's only one frame, so not that bad. Or maybe it was the other way around? Can't remember :D
