1) a way to recover runes that have been socketed
2) a way to backwards craft gems, like taking 3 flawed to create 1 chipped or something like that

Can be used to make Runewords:
1) a way to recover runes that have been socketed
2) a way to backwards craft gems, like taking 3 flawed to create 1 chipped or something like that

1. That would allow easy(ish - depending on the cost of unsocketing) rerolling of runewords. Not good...
There would be literally no point to rune words having any kind of randomness to their stats if it was possible to just plop out the runes and try again with the same item. Why would anyone keep a low-rolled rune word if they could just try again indefinitely? There would also be no trade value to rune words beyond the rune cost. No more selling a high rolled rune word for a profit. No more buying a low-rolled rune word for much cheaper than the rune cost.
But breaking apart gems, I wouldn't mind seeing that, I guess, I had never really thought that.

maybe letting you get 1 rune and random XD, with an item similar to token
Breaking down gems would be great but rather in a 1 flawed = 2 chipped ratio.
Also breaking down runes would be nice if i had like a Sur and needed Lo for a runeword i could break Sur down to Lo and a Flawless Topaz...
Basically breaking them down would still be at a loss but not too big of a loss

Recovering runes with the chance of failure (10% or something, nothing too high)Rhaegar86 wrote: 3 weeks ago1) a way to recover runes that have been socketed

The whole combination of gems into larger ones has always been a little weird but in a way, why not let us go backwards with gems as we can go higher already.
I like this. So have it like 20% to be crushed (destroyed) 40% to be damaged (you get a lower rune back) and 40% to succeed or something like that, and do the calculation for every rune in the runeword...Semirotta wrote: 3 weeks agoRecovering runes with the chance of failure (10% or something, nothing too high)Rhaegar86 wrote: 3 weeks ago1) a way to recover runes that have been socketed

Exactly could be something like this. At least then old runewords could be perhaps used again instead of tossed away completely.stx wrote: 3 weeks agoI like this. OP
Yeah you make a great point. The "value of time" component is what gets me. It took me 5 year to find the 2 Ber that I have buried in runewords that have less value to me now since the launch of RotW. I guess I can trade for lesser runes and craft back upShadowHeart wrote: 3 weeks agoThere would be literally no point to rune words having any kind of randomness to their stats if it was possible to just plop out the runes and try again with the same item. Agree about the unsocketing of runes. The gems thing seems fine and like there's a lot of room for small QoL changes like that.
The main one on my mind right now is having a dedicated "buyback" tab for vendors.
