Glory be to the Headhunter!

This is like a basic pal shield for non-Paladins. You have some really strong defence and missile bonuses, and it has respectable poison and fire resistances built in. On top of that, you have up to 3 slots to customise it. Want to turn it into a super resistance shield? Try these basic combinations:

All rounder:
Add 3 Ums which gives 66 all res: so 66 Cold Res; 66 light Res; 86-96 fire res; and 96-106 poison resist. This is 1 all res more than a Chains of Honour. Combine it will COH, and you will have at least 131 all res, with more on fire and poison. This more than negates the Hell penalty and is great for survival. Alternatively, free up that armor slot for something other than COH such as Enigma.

Rounded with Lightning focus:
Add 1 Um and 2 Perfect Topaz to give more lightning protection which will give you:

22 cold res; 80 light res; 42-52 fire resist; and 52-62 poison res.

Lightning Rod:
If you forego the Um and focus on making a lightning rod, you can get:

0 cold res; fire res 20-30; poison res 30-40; and light res 120.

Arguably the best use is for poison builds due to its high poison res:

3 perfect emeralds will give you a shield with 20-30 fire res, and 150-160 poison resist. Almost enough to negate both the Hell penalty (-100) and the penalty on your renewed poison sunder (-70) in one item, freeing up your gear elsewhere.

HG is better than a standard 4 socket Monarch in the same way that a JMOD (higher block and sockets) or JMOW (base life and sockets) can be. It’s such a versatile shield with its pre-existing resistances and life after each kill, and with its customisable (up to ) 3 sockets, this shield should have many use cases even into the end game.
