Description

Hey everyone, I'm looking for an EU Buddy to do the occasional fun thing together, be it TZ farming, split MF, boosting each other's characters, exchanging/helping out with builds and ideas or starting new characters together.

I'm German and so I am typically on during weekends and German freetime hours.

Only 1 of my friends is into D2 and he stopped shortly after ladder launch. I would like to have someone whom I can talk to and rely on in the game :)

I like people who are reliable, kind, respectful and who value other people's happiness and well-being close to their own.

Cheers!

Possibly the best "LFG" text I've ever read. <3

Sadly, my focus remains on NL so my ladder play is at an extent that's really not worth teaming up for (read: nothing but the occasional dclone).
But who knows, maybe by next season that'll change. If you're still looking for someone to play with by then. :)

Hi dude,
we can be buddies, if you like.
I am not an uber social guy, but still certainly would enjoy to play together with someone from time to time. Plus, I am a Germoid as well, so could be a match <3

You should get a friend request on Battlenet. Had some trouble with that lately tho, so lmk, if not.

Hi dude,
Taking a

here but Myrana/Nahana might not be a dude after all. 😅

I'm sure you meant no harm but assuming everyone's a dude around here could be perceived not welcoming to the few female and non-binary D2 players.

Looking for a cheap Cure on D2R HCNL? I got some!

I also have 100+ crafted amulets (from cheap to gg) on D2R SCNL. Let me know what you are looking for. 🙂

Not sure about other regions, but in the US the word "dude" is pretty much gender neutral at this point =)

Can be, in some contexts.
But some people even feel excluded when you great them in a diverse group with "hi guys". 😬

But I don't want to make up a discussion about this.

My point just is: consider that there are many different people around here and try being inclusive and welcoming to everyone.

Well yes, to my understanding "dude" can be used for any person, regardless of gender. But I am also not a native speaker and this might be wrong. However, I certainly did not mean any harm and tbh, have not spent too many thoughts about it :)

And maybe this is just an elaborated set up of vued to indirectly ask, if we got non male players amongst us :P

Funnily enough, so far no one is complaining about me using the term "Germoid", which to me seems far more offensive, than addressing someone as dude.

Hey, good evening dude :-) I am Germoid too and you can add me, i enjoy playing together without rushing and i am very interested in testing exotic builds on non ladder RotW (because i already did and do have all the main builds).

OP
I appreciate the thought and welcoming attitude, personally I wouldn't feel welcome or unwelcome based on a singular word choice though. But it's a good thing to practice care and awareness of the results you can cause with your communication and behavior.

I hope this does not derail the topic too much, but I feel it is important to talk things out when you feel the need for it.

To me, it can be a challenging issue trying to reconcile constructive/positive ideas of inclusivity with respecting existing, established norms and practices which to some degree we all have to use for a common Ground.

I try to be empathetic and caring, but I'm also a lover of language and aesthetics as well. This occasionally causes a conflict within me because I think inclusivity can push people into impractical, rigid grammatical constructions and modes of communication in an attempt to accomodate all possible cases. And you can sort of lose yourself and the mutual human basis in that abstraction.
Life and human relations are organic, and language needs to remain flexible to be able to deal with that. Swapping a pronoun in English is usually easily done, but in German it can cause quite a linguistic discombobulation which I feel can result in more harm than good in some cases.

So I typically default to encouraging awareness but not defining rigid rulesets, trusting that our human depth and resilience is sufficient to bridge the remaining 50% of the way, if that makes sense. I trust that tone, politeness, outlook and a welcoming behavior and environment are ultimately more relevant for how people feel seen and appreciated.
But at the same time I do agree that it does not hurt trying to adapt language where it makes sense, especially when it does not cause any harm in the process :)

Being a Germoid myself, I do not feel offended at all. 😅 Isn't this one of the terms that is only offensive if used by non-Germoids?

I'm also pretty sure there is at least one non-man around here. Someone's wife is among us and I assume she is a female. (Is it OK to assume a gender in this context? I don't know anymore...)

After a sophisticated analyses I can assess that 90% of players are weed-smoking dads in their mid-to-end-thirties.

Whether they fancy Brahms and Cognac, I can't say.
