Cant Even Believe This Happened - Lost My Best Item When Dying Twice - Absolute disaster!

I am literally so disheartened that I'm not sure I can pick up the pieces and keep playing. I finally managed to come up with a Dream shield for my paladin which was the final touch I needed to make him really function well. I was in a Hell level Cow game tonight, when three massive herds all came on us together, and I was pinned against a corral. I died, and several others died.

When I asked the remaining players to send me a portal when it was safe to get back to my body they said they would be happy to. They said it was safe, but just as I was about to recover my body, a rogue group of lightning cows came around the corner and killed me again. There were now two of my corpses on the Ground. They said it was clear again, and so, I went back and tried to get to the first corpse, two of the players that were trying to help me out then got blasted by an uber cow, and died there too. Everyone else then bailed on the game and you couldn't even get to that area.

I started a new game on my own, fully expecting to be able to recover all my stuff, as usual. There was my corpse in town, and I reached it. I thought all was well until I realized that my Dream shield was not there. It was nowhere to be found, and must somehow have remained attached to the second body. I went back desperately looking for the game, but it was gone, along with my Dream shield. I called in favors and traded things I was barely able to gather to get that Dream shield. Without it, my character is essentially unplayable at higher levels. I can't believe this happened.

When you log back in it will bring back your last corpse to town.
Best if you hadn't tried to go in & just left the game from the get go.
If you die a second time you're forced to stay otherwise it's all gone when you leave the game
It's a hard lesson to learn
I've had the same experience but luckily with very cheap gear

This is not true. The corpse with the most value will be transported with you to the next game. But the value here is calculated based on the

Gold value if you were to sell your gear to a vendor.

What happened to you @Slapshot is while madly clicking to pick up your corpse you accidentally picked up an item on the ground, taking the space of your Dragon shield. Then when you left the game your corpse with all your gear plus this random item followed you, but the corpse with the Dragon shield was left behind.

I always figured if you die & die again before recovering the first corpse, when you logout & log back in it would bring back your last corpse & not the first. Losing everything you had on your first body in the process

Either same issue as OP or you put on backup gear to try and survive getting your first body, but that failed.

Gold value if the vendors would ever somehow get one of such item and

Charge you for it", because in reality those goobers will never sell you any decent RW, and will only pay you 35k

Gold max no matter how awesome your gears are. LOL

From my exp with corpse popping,

Doesnt matter how many times u die., as long as u dont equip any gears, u can always exit n return back to the same game room, ur first corpse should pop in town for u, ive done this many times

Sorry that this happened to u, im surprised a group of ppl cannot handle those damn cows… as long as u have decent gears, the cows shouldnt pose any any challenge…

I certainly wish it had all happened differently. Losing the Dream shield is really a disaster for me. It took so long to achieve, and, my character was built around it, and worthless without it. Those are a very expensive rune set, and getting a good base shield can be almost impossible. All that effort and now being unable to even play the character I created. maybe it's just time to walk away. And just as I was really getting to the point where I could play at a very high level and really enjoy the game.

Sorry to hear that an I am very sorry for your loss, too... What type of shield was it at what stats did it have? You play Softcore Non-Ladder, right?

I assume it’s a stock photo from the website he linked. As I don’t believe there is legacy graphics for rotw.

Yes, I am playing RotW. Non ladder. A Dream shield and a Dream

Helm are both required for the Dream based paladin. The build is literally based on them. Thats why I cannot even play the character without the shield that I lost earlier tonight. My resistances were already nearly maxed, from other equipment. And any other paladin shield could not offer nearly what the Dream shield does.

He is asking why you didn't use a paladin shield as your base for Dream. Even if your resistances are maxed, over-resing helps when you run into monsters with a

Conviction aura. Or if you generally don't care about that there are paladin shields with ed/ar auto-mods.

I am familiar with Dream Setup. I only ask because your choice of shield is very "unusual" as Knappogue has already explained.
