Description
I play hardcore. I have gotten myself 2x Ber and 1x Jah, so I can do either Enigma or Infinity, but not both.
Which one should I go for? My current main is a summon necro, but I am also preparing a dual Mosaic assassin.
Edit, I forgot to mention that my summon necro is using Trang armor, and my main dmg is actually the firewall from it. I also don't need Spirit shield, so I fell Enigma will not be helpful for him, unless I want to mf run nightmare. Infinity would be a dmg boost though. Potentially I can make both Enigma and a Beast , and summon IG from it, but I am afraid to lose a IG made from a Ber rune

Can be used to make Runewords:

That is pretty much all about what YOU need.
Personally Id go for Enigma, because I never play anything that requires Infinity. But if you need the infinite for your build to work better, then go for it. They are both quite expensive to obtain and both can be useful.
Enigma for mobility
Infinity for damage.
If youre summon necro, id say 100% Enigma. Mosaic assa does not exactly need Infinity, sure its nice but it is not needed.

How about making Infinity AND trading into Enigma with Jah and possibly other runes you have.
In other words:
Why not both?;)

This could work too. If you find an Enigma for Jah + perhaps some adds, you could have them both. But its a risky move as you might not get the Enigma after all.
OP
Yes, I am a summoner, but I use the Trang armor to get the firewall bonus, and Firewall is my main 1st kill damage dealer. So swapping to Enigma will drop my kill speed and will help me run only nightmare.Semirotta wrote: 3 days agoThat is pretty much all about what YOU need.

Ive never used that stuff as summoner necro. Enigma over that for sure as summoner imo.ipatrishkov wrote: 3 days agoYes, I am a summoner, but I use the Trang armor to get the firewall bonus, and Firewall is my main 1st kill damage dealer. Yes, you can reverse that and make Enigma and try to trade into Infinity. Probably better.Semirotta wrote: 3 days ago

Hi!
I understand you're playing HC but in my opinion you should drop trang-ouls' fire spells as your main dmg. They're nice, better than just watching your summons, but still, a couple of 20/20 skel+mastery skeletons will reach more dps than your firewall so don't focus on it.
Now, regarding the items... I'm main necro in softcore, so I would say that Summoner or poison necro really shines with Brumble, you can get a Might merc and put it on him or wear it yourself if/when doing poison dmg(even 2 brumbles for extra Thorns dmg but doesn't feel like it'd be so good). Enigma will be better just because tp and MF for general use, but my point is you have plausible alternatives. Also, you can tp with any other item like a charges staff, no need to headbutt yourself into Enigma.
On the other hand, Infinity should boost general DMG for a full summoner but not so for poison/Bone, a cheaper Insight so you don't have to ever think about mana(Corpse E. spam, Fire Golem constant repos to aggro monster into your mob...) feels just ok and has better overall QoL; in a good base it does for a great merc weapon(My first runeword and still using it in lategame).
Hope it did help. GL!

Yes, try to get both.
Maybe you already have a good base for one of the two? Then do the runeword that fits to your base yourself and buy the other runeword on the market.
If getting both does not work, prioritise Enigma. Both your summoner and your sin will profit from it and many other builds. It's great for repositioning the minions and grants great bonuses. Be careful with teleporting when playing hardcore. Don't use it too offensively.

Imo Enigma first without any doubt.
The increase in farm speed you gain from the ability to consistently telestomp and the control over your minions targeting and damage outmatches Infinity by far.
Additionally it frees up your weapon swap for Call To Arms.
I'd swap from Insight to Infinity on the merc, if you don't die a lot anyway or you are able to feed an Insight to your Iron Golem every time it or you dies.
Edit: Nvm my rambling about dying, since it is HC.

usually Enigma is always right...
because if you want play something else, this still right.
Infinity is only correct for 60% of class

Please be aware, all my trade is in non ladder d2r. Not warlock.
OP
EDIT: So around 20 people told me to do Enigma first, so I did the most logical thing: I did an Infinity instead.
A dude on bnet heard my struggle and dropped me an Eth base. That I cubed to 4 sockets.
I can tell you my firewall summon necro slaps with Infinity up to players 4 no problem. Clear speed ok-ish. Lower res+ Infinity alone break almost all fire immunes (i am too scared to put on a sunder), and anything not immune is brought down to -100% resist. once your merc+firewall kills someone, everything on the screen dies from Corpse Explosion, as expected. It is satisfying. Oh, and also makes Mages a bit more viable

A summon Nec shouldn't rely on this as his main dps.my main dmg is actually the firewall from it
Giving a summon necro, who relies on the Trang fire skills, an Infinity is like putting a Corvette engine in a Corolla. But I've also seen a Mustang 5.0 engine in a Miata....Bisu wrote: 2 hours agoA summon Nec shouldn't rely on this as his main dps.my main dmg is actually the firewall from it

On the bright side, that engine would never feel any burden =)
True! BUT it gives the driver a false sense of capabilities since the chassis can't handle it. Which could be dangerous if we apply the same metaphor to a hardcore character.

But what better alternative do bystanders have to suggest? To rev up the engine? That could lead to disastrous accidents and out-of-control overhaul of... everything.
If anything I have learned from watching movies with my kiddo, it would be "Let it go~~~ Let it go~~~". Life always finds a way, right?

Even with an Infi engine this car drives like a rusty old Lada. Buy a new car.
