Description

With any new DLC, especially the first season comes landmines; and this could be a big one.

During my offline testing of the Colossal Ancients, during one of my final kills, close to the edge, POOF, the jewel never dropped. (WTF)...

Then, and confirmed in the D2R Clone Hunters Discord cc: @ShadowHeart someone else had this happen to them.

And then FINALLY, Pavke who was separately testing offline, also had this happen to him...

So what do we think is happening? Well, this seems to be a potential tile void issue not to dissimilar to killing Ghosts in Arcane and losing potential high runes.

The problem? It is highly inconsistent and hard to pinpoint. What I do know, is as long as you were in the center or away from objects/edges, it seemed to drop more consistently.

But given that we do not have enough information yet, I wanted to bring exposure to this at a minimum.

Happy hunting.

Yes, this issue definitely needs a light shined upon it until Blizzard fixes it. Going through the collection of all the statues, summoning & fighting the Colossal Ancients (which can be quite hard for some builds, depending on how well geared you are), only for the guaranteed drop to poof into the Void because the final ancient died in the wrong spot is just... unacceptable.

I'm in CET (Central European Time)
My profile says Ladder, but I play both Ladder and Non-Ladder.
My profile says Softcore, but I play both Softcore and Hardcore.
My Holy Grail Tracker is for Offline Hardcore.

Seems like the same old "item drops outside of solid floor" issue that's been around in CS and AS for ages. Same thing also happens in
Abaddon
and similar.

Although the pillar also blocking it seems new. Can't recall seeing that as an issue anywhere else before.

Either way, worth bringing to people's attention as this'd be a far more expensive hit than missing some random TP scroll in AS.

Well, it also could have been a
Jah
- especially with Wraiths and other flying blunder. But we´ll never know... 😉

Concerning the current issue: Since I am not in need of those nice Jewels I think I keep my statues until this is resolved. @War The Wise Thanks for sharing the info! 🙂

Really cannot sum this up any better...

A user named Triggyrick1260 commented on the video that you can exit, rejoin and fight the colossal ancients again in such a case.
Hopefully someone can confirm this so we have at least a workaround to get a jewel if that bug happens.

That would only work for online; not offline players. But that feels very strange to me given that you would have completed the event and how you would be able to 're-trigger' it without reopening statues seems broken.

those jewels will devalue over time. but I guess you can hold it until fix come up. the value decline much slower than
Key
/torch story.

And some say, you can exit game fight again...I guess if that is case, you just need to make sure you open game in lobby with password.

Please be aware, all my trade is in non ladder d2r. Not warlock.

The more I think on this, that is 100% broken. You can just continue to chain the fights to get jewels? That clearly takes away from end-game mechanic and the hunt for the mats (statues). Unless it only works for 1x re-enter, get the jewel an that is it?

I wonder if this is gated purely by the Jewel drop itself? That is, the ability to re-enter and fight?
