Assuming you are not running naked and are using a shield, there is a 1% chance that gloves lose 1 durability after you are hot by a melee attack, i.e. after chance to get hit,

Evade, and block.

9 durability means those gloves will survive an average of 850 hits.

Even if you get hit once per minute by a melee attack - which would be quite a lot - they will serve you will for more than 14 hours.
Maybe you find another pair of gloves in that time?
