Unable to craft blood boots from Mirrored Boot base

Hello,

I have been playing around with crafting Blood Boots for my hammerdin and wanted to try something with a bit more defense.

I was running Nihlathak in Hell and came across White Mirrored Boots with 67 base def...

I put them in the cube with a Perfect Ruby, Eth rune and junk jewel... Nothing.

Tried a different jewel... Nothing!

Swapped from my 93 sorc to my 87 pally and tried again... Nothing!

Closed the game, opened it back up... Still nothing!!

Do Mirrored Boots not work for this recipe??

Just for the record, are you able to gamble for Mirrored Boots? I just bought close to 35 pairs from Anya and not one rolled as mirrored... I did get a couple of Battle Boots though and crafted one set.

I am not the best person to fill you in on gambling basics so I'll refer you to this redit post by someone who seems quite informed.

But I did find this quickly about the chance to roll an upgraded base:

The equations for exceptional quality and elite quality upgrades are:
Exceptional upgrade: (Ilvl-qlvl)*0,9%+1%)
Elite Upgrade: (Ilvl-qlvl)*0,33%+1%)

Oh and I will pass on one thing I know about gambling. Be sure to have your Edge equipped and Gheed's Fortune in your inventory.

You can gamble, but it will take some time and cost some good amounts of Gold as the chances to be elite are pretty low (I know because I like to craft Blood Gloves and Hit Power Gloves on elite bases )

The other option, is to discover if some vendor can sell those Boots (I don't know, but you can find some links with the vendors' lists), so you could spend some time going in and out of the city to reset the vendors until an elite boot shows up
If you go this route, depending on the act, reset the map until you the map is more friendly for you to leave town. And depending on the vendor, It is faster to leave town using waypoint or a red portal (on Act 1 and Act 5)

Don't forget to read the Crafting Book which contains everything you need to know to correctly craft.

This never seems to work for me... Even if I go to different acts then come back, the for sale page doesn't change. I have to leave that game and make a new one for them to be different... Very strange.

I've had OK luck getting 47(?) base defense Battle Boots from Anya on the gamble... Took about 10 chances the first time then another 5 or so to get the second.

Still no luck on getting Mirrored Boot base however after 40ish tries.

Are you just using waypoints to travel directly back and forth between towns in different acts?

Try actually physically running out of a town and back in (for example, run all the way out of the Rogue Encampment to Blood Moor then turn around and run back in), or using waypoints within the same act (for example, use a waypoint to travel from the Rogue Encampment to Cold Plains and then back). See if that resets the merchants for you.

(Of course, Rogue Encampment and other locations are just examples; you can start from whatever town you want and travel within the same act.)

Beyond that, you can also do things like use a cow level portal to travel in and out of town to reset merchants.

If there are multiple characters in town, all characters in the game must leave town for vendor inventory to update. And switching acts doesn't count - you need to leave town by exit/door ('til it says "Entering The Blood Moor", "Entering The Rocky Waste", etc) or via waypoint within the same act, like gensymmed said.

Most of the time it is town WP to town WP, and in a solo game.

I never thought about using cows to reset them though... That could be very time saving!

I'll check Larz and Anya, then WP to Rogue Encampment to check Gheed, then Lut Gholein... I've seen videos of guys running out the Encampment into the Moor and back to see Charsi's new loot. I believe I have tried that as well and it doesn't work. I'll have to try again. These days I'm more looking for that GG Circlet and Mirrored Boots for crafting, which Charsi doesn't stock.

I used Cows' portal to keep resting Charsi a while ago - seeking Echoing (3 masteries) weapons for my barbarian (it is faster than walk to leave town )

Just be careful to not crete the portal to close to Charsi, or else, sometimes she walks behind the portal and you can't click on her until she moves...
