Description

Hi

It is clear to me why the guides of some builds recommend as BIS some of those crafted items instead of a rare in the same slot.
But it is not clear to me why sometimes
Blood Ring
is recommend as BIS instead of Rare Ring.

Like here
https://maxroll.gg/d2/guides/blade-assassin
where the "standard variation" uses a
Blood Ring
with:
10 fcr 3 ll 5 str 20 life 11@ 25 mf
https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/nph20wo3#1

Is it because, for some builds,
Blood Ring
behaves as a 7 affixes ring or as a rare ring with 4+ suffixes? 🤔🤔
(as the three fixed affixes are generally desirable affixes in a ring - ll, str and life)

Blood rings are easier to acquire than rare rings and they guarantee a certain number of specific affixes. Its much easier to farm crafting materials and roll crafted rings, than it is to farm rare rings.

I'm willing to accept other forms of currency. Like Tokens, Keys,
Perfect Gems
, and certain minor runes in lieu of my asking price. I'm also willing to accept rune combinations that add up to my asking price.

Also isnt it possible to get "double rolls" on LL exceeding the max LL of rare rings?

Yes. Up to 11 ll. Same with the other fixed affixes (up to 60 life and up to 25 str)

And was my first guess for them to be used instead of rare rings. But found those examples like the one in the description, that has no "double rolls"...

🤔

I don't agree that they are easier do acquire. 🤔
Ok, you can't "dedicated farm" rare rings, but you can gamble one for ~350k-500k (depending on your
Gheed's Fortune
and Edge rolls, and considering the ~10% chance of gambled item to be rare). And is easier and guaranteed to farm
Gold
than the material for
Recipe: Blood Ring
🤔

On the other hand, supposing that you want some of the fixed affixes and is crafting with ilvl 75+ (which guarantee 4 random affixes), yes, you probably have more chance to get a "good ring" from random
Blood Ring
than from a random Rare ring.👍👍

But my point is that those guides, in special the maxroll's ones, don't care much about how easy is to obtain an item... they are full of perfect rolled items (even rare ones), so I think that the author deliberately chose to use that
Blood Ring
instead of a perfect rolled rare ring.

My guess is that he wanted 4+ suffixes in the ring (and rares can have up to 3). The ring in the description has 5 suffixes (ll, life, str, mf, fcr) and 2 prefixes (@, mf).

We already talked about the "double rolls" 😉, but the ring on the guide/description has no "double rolls" 🤔, he probably used
Blood Ring
to have more than 3 suffixes, as the ring has:
5 suffixes (ll, life, str, mf, fcr) and 2 prefixes (@, mf).
