Throne of Destruction - in D2R they added a new GfX (shield) leaning against the pillar that was not present in legacy if you press 'G' to check

Mana Potions have a chance to double their mana regeneration based on character's current Energy level. Same goes to Healing Potions, but their chance is based on character's current Vitality.

I just discovered this. It is possible to have a merc with higher lvl than you.

I got rushed to act 2 and with lvl 1 character you can hire lvl 2 merc

Adding to the useless (literally) merc trivia:

If you get rushed to A3 to get a minimum level A3 merc, his mana will be so low that he won't be able to cast a single one of his spells. But even then, he will still refuse to use his sword and will instead just randomly run back and forth.
