If you die from it, I wonder what it says you died from....

Player was slain by exploding cow.

or maybe

Player was slain by asshole teammate.

I'd bet on "X was slain by an evil force".

BTW, in Polish version (at least the legacy one), "an evil force" message is replaced by "not used - tell Ken".

Adding to the useless (literally) merc trivia:

If you get rushed to A3 to get a minimum level A3 merc, his mana will be so low that he won't be able to cast a single one of his spells. But even then, he will still refuse to use his sword and will instead just randomly run back and forth.

Oblivion Knights used to be able to cast

Iron Maiden. This meant that high level melee characters could get killed instantly even in normal
