Description

Hello all.

I am looking for advice on an easy method of searching for Rare weapons in the Trade forum. There doesn't seem to be a straight forward (or easy) way to go about it.

Does anyone have any tips for me? I am specifically seeking out Rare weapons to make LLD/MLD.

Thanks.

I don't believe that your suggestion above will help me currently with Rare weapons.

I tried the following:

*Advanced Search* for the word "weapon", with "Rare" & "Axes" selected. I then pressed *Full Search*, and it comes up with an error. I seems to do this every time that I search for an item based on what "type" it is.

The same error comes up if you, for example, do a Full Search for the word "Ruby", and select the "Jewels" modifier.... or "Rings" etc.

I am assuming that this is just part of the future system that is still incomplete.
This is confirmed fixed as of patch 1.04.

Other issues addressed in this topic will be addressed in a future update. Marked fixed.

Honestly, I think this is one of the downsides of the way listings are currently created. There is no way to look for specific modifiers and base types of rare/magic weapons. Because listers aren't forced to use the advanced listing options to specify rare/magic/base type, they can list it however they want. The only way to find rare items is to either browse all trades, or maybe search "LLD".

I think that every listing should be required to say the base weapon type and attributes. That way buyers can easily sort for certain attribute ranges, like paladin hellfire torches that have at least 15 all res.

Good luck to your search. You could also consider opening a WTB listing for the weapons you'd like.

If you offer what I am asking, add me on battle.net for a quicker trade. I'll see the notification instantly if I'm available.

Working on a way to make the native search work without keywords - this would enable you to just select the 'Rare' filter, combined with a weapon type, to see all trades meeting that query. As of now, you need to include a keyword of some sort along with that Rare filter to return results. Try adding the affix names, or the stat names, and selecting 'Hybrid search' as the search option - this will pick up stats inside trade offers as well.

You can do this already:
Here is a link to the results using the above instructions ^

Yes, but it's not required. And if it's not required, people won't do it. I'm sure most people don't even click on the advanced tab. If you follow the instructions that you gave, only one current listing shows up search.php?keywords=Hellfire+Torch&fid% ... mit=Search. I think that the lister should be prompted to input important information about their item before being allowed to post it. What base item type, what rarity level, what attributes, how many sockets, is it ethereal, what is the name, and finally what type of characters are it good for. I think it should be a step-by-step process. If every item on the entire site had to follow these steps buyers could instantly search for items with affixes and base weapon types they need. The only exception to this would be listings that don't quite fit into a single item listing. Rune packs, pgems, bulk jewels, gold selling. I'm sure that it wouldn't be easy to implement, it sounds like a LOT of work. But it is what I think would be the ideal way to list and search trades. If you want a dual leech ring with at least 5% ll and 5% ml you could search for all rare ring types, and specify the attributes life leech and mana leech must be at least 5%.

I posted the URL of the results page already - it has 10 matches. Just click that link to see for yourself. If you are seeing just 1 match, it is likely you have too many filters active like region, platform in your search criteria.

As I already showed you in that annotated screenshot, users can already search for attributes like this - using the hybrid search option and keyword expressions. All it requires is for you to just read the instructions provided in the hover tooltips and give it a go.

You raise some good points about enforcing more comprehensive listings however, taken onboard.
