Description

I am still not sure what everything is worth when it comes to runes.

I need a Lo rune and I have Ohm and 2 Vex. would I be losing value if I combined them all to make Lo?

the value from when I first traded for a Lo rune seems to have changed. A few weeks back I traded Ohm Vex Gul Ist for a Lo rune, but it seems like now that is not a fair trade. Did the price of Lo go up or the others down ?

I am curious as to what others, who are more knowledgeable about the trade market, think.

How Much is 'X' Rune Worth? [Pricing Guide]
The key thing to understand is that runes don't always trade at cube ratio. Sub Ist's are generally ok to cube, cubing 2 x Gul to Vex and 2 x Cham to Zod is fine, 2x Sur to Ber is popular and possibly one of the best ways to get a Ber.

Don't let the number intimate you, think all HRs in Ist's. In D2 trading world an Ist is like a dollar.

Lem = 1/18 Ist
Pul = 3 Lem = 1/6 Ist
Um = 2 Pul = 1/3 Ist
Mal = Um + Pul = 1/2 Ist
Ist (base currency)
Gul = Ist + Mal + Pul = 1.66 Ist
Vex = 2 Gul = 3.33 Ist
Ohm = 2 Vex = 6.5 Ist
Lo = 2 Ohm 13 Ist
Sur = Lo = 13 Ist
Ber = 2 Sur = 26 Ist
Jah = Ber - Vex - Ist = 22 Ist
Cham = 2 Ist
Zod = 2 Cham = Vex + Ist = 4 Ist

That list looks much different than this post.

I copy and pasted that from Morphin's guide when i first made that post so he must've updated the prices since then. just fixed it.

OP
so cubing 2 Vex and 2 Ohm to make Lo is loss of investment essentially? From looking at both charts, the one posted and the link to the other price values, it would seem the Ohm Vex Gul Ist would trade to a Lo, but that doesn't really seem to be the going rate anymore.

Personally I stop cubing up once I get to Pul. Pul is where I feel there is enough value to trade and keep in circulation.

that is what I have been doing as well. Anything past Pul I have felt like I would just lose value in what the runes are worth. But this specific situation I was curious about due to past trade values.

You can combine Pul into Um. It's combining Um to Mal where you start losing

this isnt true.
if you are trading high value itens, nobody would like to receive an offer with lots of Um's, even Mal's. If you combine them into Ist, it became much easier to bid

For me, the way I do it is, I avoid cubing up from Lem and up, but if I really need Um runes, I'll cube Puls.

Otherwise, no cubing. The only HR I'd cube would be Chams to get Ber.

Despite what the price lists say: If you need a Lo and you have all cube ingredients, and you don't need them, it's much less trouble to cube. I did the exact same thing. Started selling my stuff and made a Lo from a bunch of Ist runes. Yes, technically I could have traded around but that takes so much longer. I consider my time to be of value, too.

prices are negotiable of course

with the prices i've actually seen traded lately. not many sellers are following the suggested prices at least up to Ohm, and all runes are being used to trade for bers. you will lose value (according to guides) cubing up to Lo, but will save time getting it. time is always a variable that influences value. Consider your demand for Lo, the gear you could trade the runes for to upgrade your character, the value of your time, and the rune value guides. Sometimes paying extra for what YOU WANT comes without buyers remorse, or in your case... cubing what you want. The important thing is the buyers remorse. Don't do it if you believe you will regret it, but remember that yolo feels pretty good.
