Description

I have an entire mule full, and an entire shared stash full, of low runes.

So many
Amn
....What do I do? start dropping? stop picking up?

idk if i cbf to buy chipped gems? It'd probably end up costing me more than i'd end up combining.

Just ignore them, I don't pick anything below
Lum
except those needed for recipes.
It's a waste of time to cube low runes.
Counting only
El
Runes, it would take exactly 14,281,868,906,496 (14 trillion) through
Horadric Cube
transmutations to create one
Zod
Rune.

because
Ral
Amn
Sol
Thul
Hel
are useful for crafting, you could store 20 or 40 of them and sell them for higher runes like
Pul
Um
. I recommend to keep only 2 or 3 of each low runes for runeward. other runes below
Lum
you could just cube them and upgrade.
anything higher than
Lum
Ko
you can upgrade them to higher runes accord to your need, but keep in mind cubing runes doesn't always get you more valuable rune, for example: 2
Ist
=
Gul
, but 2
Ist
has higher value than a
Gul

Personally being a newer player... (like 2 weeks) I save all runes and upgrade them all.

I do the same and I use the following method to store them to easily track and upgrade them: Source:

A lot of mid-high runes do not trade at the cube recipe value so you may be losing overall rune value by upgrading.

Check out this High Rune Value Guide or the Overall Trade Value Guide for guidance on all item values.

I store my extra crafting jewels in the empty spaces. I would post a picture but it would probably drive some people crazy.

Doing it anyways -- sorry for the red - my main died so I can only see it with lower mules and alts:
