Description

For much of the game's history, Arioc's Needle was a key without a lock, if one would pardon the pun. It faced stiff competition from a plethora of potent runewords for Desert Mercenary followers, was too unfocused for the already subpar Spear-Zon, lagged behind other two-handers for Barbarians, required one too many hands to be of interest to Paladins or Assassins, had an unfavorable IAS chart for Druids, and was the direct inferior of multiple staves for casting-focused Necromancers and Sorceresses.

It was not until the introduction of the Warlock, who can use this Hyperion Spear in "one hand" – and whose Echoing Strike skill covets the unusual intersection of +4 to All Skills and 50% Deadly Strike – that this endgame weapon finally found its niche.

Ethereal Arioc's Needle on act 2 mercenary is actually very strong for hell Travincal farming Find Item (hork) barbarian. and it's pretty cheap!

Paired with Tal Rasha's Horadric Crest or Crown of Thieves and Treachery you have a very strong and cheap mercenary.

Arioc's Needle is a viable option for a physical Echoing Strike warlock build. It provides +4 to all skills, high % deadly strike and high base weapon damage.

With Warlock being in the roster, Arioc's Needle is a interesting weapon choice for hybrid Demon Skill Tree and Eldrich Skill Tree Warlock.

The +4 Skills from Arioc's Needle help immensely and only 1 skill away from a +3 auto mod on Daggers for Void. Also it is much easier to get your hands on Arioc's Needle than a Zod rune.

In conjunction with Levitation Mastery, the Deadly Strike on Arioc's Needle furthers your crit chance and you can use Arioc's Needle with 40% less requirements if your Levitation Mastery is at level 20. Very solid piece of equipment on Warlock.
