Aren't sockets based on ilvl? I never heard of sockets in relation to quality. Do you have a source to share?

I think the only impact of superior is that you can‘t socket them with the cube only with

Larzuk quest which aleays turns to max socket based on ilevel - afaik.

I mean I think you arn't wrong, I could have sworn I read somewhere superior items get max sockets but I could be wrong.
Regardless it was found in NM AND it has a lvl30 skill attached to it so I figured its good. I went out and tested it on
