Request fulfilled Classic Trading Unusable

Description

I know I am not first one to point this out but it kinda sucks when you're looking for Classic items and the whole trade section is full of "WTS Runes,
Eth
Armor bases, Torches" I know it's a niche thing but is there anyway someone could remove posts not associated with Classic ? I apologize for being that guy and there may be less than a handful of people who use Classic but it couldn't hurt to ask. Thanks in advance, even if the site remains the same, still the best D2 site ever made.

Update as of 1.37 - this issue should be encountered far less often with the introduction of multi-filtering and the new browse trades section.

Xbox GT: Cinomed541 add me if you need someone to play with.

I was admittedly confused as to why this is a problem for a second, until I took a look at the classic filtered listings.

While something like "this can't be a classic item so it'll always be filtered out" could theoretically be done I'd assume, this whole thing seems to be boiling down to user error. The classic flag is something that is (or is not) set by the trade creator. If they incorrectly flag something non-classic as classic, then ... well, they messed up.

And odds are, if folks do that on items that can't even exist in classic, they do it with other ones as well and this issue runs deeper than a mere auto-filter would be able to cover, simply because it'll also be true for non-classic items that COULD be classic items. That's bound to be the even more annoying part of it actually, seeing how the obvious ones you can just scroll past whereas these you wouldn't know until after you bother reaching out and asking.

Sadly, this whole issue is bound to be amplified for everyone "soon" as ladder starts and folks still incorrectly mark things as ladder that aren't (already happening) and will also start missing the ladder flag on the ladder stuff they'll find moving forward.

TLDR: 'tis hard to counter all possible user error.

Moved to the Feedback section.

Like Schnorki said, this comes down to people not paying attention, and unless I coded in detection + block logic (not an attractive venture for me given the low volume of Classic trades) there's little I can really do to stop people from using the site incorrectly. If I were you I'd pop them a PM or comment in their listings pointing out the mistake.

The site is going to feel very different to use when I release 1.37, the next patch. It's going to make multi-filtering seamless between the browse and search discovery tools, which will help people understand how the filters work much quicker than before because they'll be using them to refine results all the time. This one major overhaul of the trade discovery tools on the site will certainly have a knock-on improvement for Edge cases just like this.

In addition to this general improvement, in the same next patch, squelching people will also hide their trade listings - giving you the power to hide trades you consider 'junk' that might be clogging up your results repeatedly. That'll help you filter out junk sellers or people who repeatedly create poor or incorrectly configured listings.

I will also be running a 'reset' command before next patch that will set everyone's ladder profile setting and listings (including all historical trades) to 'non-ladder', with the exception of the tiny group of listings made by Legacy/Vanilla traders. Other similar pre-ladder resets of filter config and improvements to the trade UI are addressing this.

At the end of the day, there's only so much I can do to make people use the site the way it is intended without having to force their hand with logic/rules/extra systems that would only have the effect of complicating the system even further IMO.
