Description

Andariel's Visage is frequently considered to be the best option for a mercenary, particularly if ethereal.

It is also among the best options for many physical builds, on par with Guillaume's Face, and generally surpassing Vampire Gaze if you have another source of Mana Steal.

It will often be socketed with a 15% IAS, 30% Fire Resist jewel to offset the -30 Fire Resist penalty.

The most important atribute for a mercenary is Life Steal. But exists many good options of helms that give life steal. Vampire Gaze, Tal Rasha's Helm and Bulwark runeword, which is very cheap. In my opinion, the atribute that makes Andariel's Visage the best option for a Merc is the 20% IAS.

Typical rolls (non-ethereal): Most Andariel's Visage helms trade for Um to Ist rune. Lower rolls (e.g., <27 Strength, <9% Life Leech) may go for Um, while good rolls (e.g., 27+ Strength, 9–10% Life Leech) are closer to Ist or slightly higher.

High rolls: Nearly perfect stats (30 Strength, 10% Life Leech, 150% Enhanced Defense) can fetch 2–3 Ist runes or a combination of Ist+ Um, Mal+2 Um, or 40–60 Perfect Gems.

Ethereal version: Ethereal Andariel's Visage is much rarer and can reach Vex rune or higher, especially for perfect rolls.

Low demand: Trade volume is moderate, but prices are stable due to its popularity for mercenaries and melee builds.

If you are using Flickering Flame on your character, you can usually throw this on your Merc without needing to worry about the loss of Fire Resistance. This opens up the socket for something else, or removes the need to socket it entirely.

Since Warlock can use Summon Tainted and if you have Fanaticism Bind Demon as well, these remove you from using 30 Fire Res 15 IAS Jewel, saving your money a lot.

Because of this, it opens you to use something better on this Helm with Cham Rune for allowing your Act 2 Merc to kill monsters without being frozen as a result.
