Uber Mephisto Questions

I was trying to help someone the other day with my FOH/

Smite paladin still running middle of the road gear. I usually do Ubers with a fully geared Smiter and I could tell the difference.

Mephisto's

Conviction was wrecking me and I left about 5382 corpses on the Ground trying to recover everything, then re-specc'd to get a decent

Salvation aura, then ran out of rejuvenation potions, then ran out of time. Luckily they were able to get help from someone else and I need to check my confidence.

So here are my actual questions. If I try to cancel Meph's

Conviction with my own level 21 aura, does that mean that his aura only doesn't affect me but other party members take the debuff, or does it mean that mine overrides his so he takes the debuff and my party members don't take the debuff?

Anybody try an Act V merc with Lawbringer in

Uber Tristram? If yes, what was his other weapon?

How are hammers against

Uber Tristram? Anybody clear it with basic 2x Spirit, Lore, Stealth?

Conviction which lowers or essentially neutralizes your lightning resistance and then fries you with lightning. You can inoculate your Paladin by raising his lightning resistance as close to 300% as possible. My Paladin has 311%, but I'm going to drop one of the 11% charms because it's overkill.

It only overrides the aura for you -

Getting a level 21

Conviction is a big investment and quite honestly - it's a bit of trap. Don't do that, it's a waste of skill points to get it that high. If you're going to switch to another aura over

Fanaticism, use

Salvation (or even

Resist Lightning - but that doesn't help vs

Mephisto's skeletal magi other than lightning variants). Sure,

Salvation won't be able to fully overcome the -125% of his

Conviction, but it should be enough to make a difference, for you and your party members.

Trying to keep a merc alive in

Uber Tristram is going to be a tall order in most cases, but have you tried Delirium? The

Confuse proc should help a lot by keeping the random mobs attacking each other rather than you. It won't override

Life Tap on bosses becauses bosses are immune to AI curses.

besides using

Fade, you can fill your inventory with lightning resistances, when uber mepho hits me with his aura I still have 85% lightning resistances and 20/20 cold/fire.
my mercenary is act2 might/Insight, so I can

Teleport around without needing to take mana pots, and he does not die since my smitter is tanking, also using dracs/Exile to make sure I proc

Life Tap with the first few hits.

Not against Uber Meph with the Lawbringer, only against

Uber Baal and Diablo. But I have used an Act 5 merc in Uber Trist was able to keep him alive consistently, and only using 2-3 purple pots.

Overwriting the

Life Tap on Uber Meph is usually a Death wish, but on

Uber Baal not so much. In fact it can be useful on

Uber Baal because the Lawbringer tears his physical immune ghost/

Vampire summons to shreds, and similar to regular

Baal it appears that

Uber Baal doesn't

Teleport or cast a clone of himself when decrepified.

Act 5 merc I was using had an

Um'd Gface, CoH Sacred Armour, and usually dual Grief PB for Uber Meph, swapped out to Lawbringer PB as soon as he's disposed of. I also used Treachery to proc

Fade on the merc - not as much hassle as some make it out to be, usually just hit up the WSK, plunk him in the middle of a mob, and it doesnt take long.

Sounds like a Death wish, lol.

Frenzy Barb and Zealer/Smiter were only ones I ever did it with, and usually with lots of CB. And of course OW somewhere on your gear is pretty much mandatory.

Ive done it with some very budget gear using my Zealer/Smiter - Smoke Armour, 4xPdiamond pally shield, Black

Flail,

Goblin Toe, Gface,

Blood Gloves and

Blood Belt.

Don't really play Hdin just because the play style I find annoying, FoHSmiter hybrid is what I'm running right now on both HCL and HC SP and loving it.

You can go with Lawbringer an full Sazabi's. You need some purples but you can keep your A5 Merc alive with that gear.

Thanks, this is the specific information I was looking for. I had respec'd to

Salvation but was wondering if

Conviction could have helped the other player. Turns out it won't, so

Salvation is the way to go for

Mephisto.

I might try this. One of my issues with

Uber Tristram is that all the additional mobs make the fight a pain. If I wipe out the adds, more get summoned, so it's almost a waste of time taking out the minions.

I had Treachery, but no Drac's yet. The other player had the

Life Tap

Wand, but they were having trouble getting it cast with all of the adds interrupting. They did get it cast but I was chugging purples to stay alive and still got clipped by a few one-shots.

I'm with you on Hdin. It's boring to me so I stick with FoH/Smiter as a typical pally. I was using a pally shield with pdiamonds, Black

Jagged Star,

Sandstorm Trek, and two-piece IK. I should have thought to get some

Blood Gloves and

Blood Belt instead of IK.

I just put together full Sazabi's on nonladder for that exact build. I haven't had much farming luck this ladder season. Even for things worth trading up and I already burned up most of my pgems.
