Recently I've upgraded my Maul Druid's weapon from a
Thresher
Obedience to a
Giant Thresher
Obedience. According to this YouTube video, I was expecting a great increase of attack range (range adder from 1 to 4) which should be pretty noticeable.

In the first few minutes of trying the new weapon I was pretty surprised: the
Giant Thresher
feels exactly the same as the old
Thresher
. The giant bear always runs very close to targets before he starts slapping.

It turns out that, the way I was playing the game (A-move at empty space forward) just doesn't benefit from range adder. My guess is that A-move only acquires targets at minimum range regardless of the equipped weapon. Once I tried to attack by name-locking, the bear can actually reach longer with the shiny new weapon. As a trade-off, now I have to play the bear less casually by name-locking every single target which requires repeatedly holding & releasing the hotkey for Maul to attack every single target.

I haven't seen this getting mentioned anywhere yet (probably because I haven't searched enough) so I might as well note it down somewhere.

Edit: fix maul links to the skill, not the weapon

That’s very interesting, I didn’t know this. I wonder if it only affects controller play or also with mouse when holding right click to move and attack anything that comes in range? I haven’t played enough like this (only a little when testing a
Frenzy
barb a long time ago), and I can’t test myself at the moment.

Also, for the auto-link to the skill, you need to put it exactly like it appears in the database entry’s title.

Maul: Skill

You can quickly check this via the search function:

I'm in CET (Central European Time), so that's UTC+1 normally and UTC+2 during DST.
My profile says Ladder, but I play both Ladder and Non-Ladder.
My profile says Softcore, but I play both Softcore and Hardcore.
