If you're not playing Necromancer, shop for of Life Tap Wand.

Before level 24 to save yourself time. It'll have a red background when your character is below the required level to use it. so you don't have to check every

Wand.
This is great on melee characters against tough enemies you need to kill to progress in the game.
For example to defeat the three Ancients on

Arreat Summit for

Rite of Passage: Quest or to defeat the uber bosses in the

Pandemonium Event.

Recipe: Fully Repaired and Recharged Weapon can save you a ton of gold when you need to recharge it.

When you use

Life Tap on monster the "Drain Effectiveness" is ignored (so you can steal life from monster with "Drain Effectiveness" 0% like Skeletons)

Life Tap causes 50% of Physical Damage dealt to the target to be returned as Life to the attacker. Ignores any penalties or Drain Effectiveness, making it very powerful.

If you are level 91 or above, you can buy a level 6

Life Tap

Wand with 105 charges.

To make it fast: Go to Act 2, hell,

Drognan, on a map with the city entrance next to

Drognan. You will get the

Wand in 5 minutes (going in and out of the city refreshes

Drognan's stuff).

For a high-level character, repair costs are mostly unimportant, but for a low-level character, you may need to use the cube recipe (

Ort Rune, any chipped gem, the weapon to be repaired) to repair it.

A

Wand with only

Life Tap charges requires a level 24 character, but the level requirement can vary if the

Wand has other properties.

I just used this kind of

Wand to kill Ubers with a level 87 barbarian.
