I really hate the instability. Constantly respeccing because one build got nerfed and all your chase gear is now worthless and a different build is now worthwhile and new chase gear is essential. It destroys the progression of the game, and frankly ruins my experience.
I do not play D2 for a live-service constantly changing environment where I have no idea what happens next month. I play this ancient game because I like playing the fixed rule set to its ultimate conclusion.
Constantly? We get patches at most every ladder, which is every 3 months. And most such patches are only bugfixes. Only Warlock has been recently nerfed (or fixed), but it's a new class, so changes are expected. The other classes hasn't been changed since patch 2.4.
And if changes every few years are still too often, old stable 1.14 is still online...

Yea, Echoing Strike had its chase gear. Then the whole thing go reworked and it's respec time.
Bound demon had its chase gear. Then the whole thing got reworked and it's respec time. Abyss has its chase gear... but is it going to be reworked for PVP? There is talk.
And of course we got big changes to Mosaic, and sunder charms and Terror zones had lots of impact, including regarding how you gear for handling heralds.

I like the new stash implementation, and warlock is fun. I don't mind having a new class to play - but stability is a big feature. A lot of users here seem to view stability as an insult for some reason. I don't get it.
