Zod may be the rarest rune in the game. But it doesn't make it the most valuable. It is often overlooked by its little brothers Ber, Jah and sometimes Cham.
The Reign of the Warlock DLC has skyrocketed Zod to the most valuable rune on non-ladder because everybody and their mom is making BotD, Void and Obsession for their Warlocks (and Sorcs and Hammerdins...). Zod is only used in three runewords, but all three are very viable now.
Gold Value. The Zod rune hits the trade Cap price of 35,000 Gold pieces. All runes at Gul or higher are similarly capped in Gold value.
A word of caution for new players - do NOT sell your Zod rune for Gold to an NPC. PLENTY of players will be competing to buy your Zod rune for Gold if that is what you want to trade it for. At the moment, an Ist RUNE (worth <1/10 of a Zod) can get you >10,000,000 Gold pieces in trade. Imagine what a Zod can buy you in Gold. Zod will give you the most value as a socketed rune, runeword, or in a trade for runes/items.
