Description
Woah.. anyone else tried fetching a Stone from the ancients this morning? My Frenzybarb got his ass handed to him right as he went through the portal.
Especially Talics Whilrwind and Fire Twisters are hitting hard. I usually farm TZ Trav, sometimes on P7-8 without coming close to die otherwise..

what gear are you running?
my barb has about 4.5k hp and max res. I haven't tried yet but good to know.

Enigma/Duress, 2XGrief, Arreats with P.Stone, Act5 merc with Fortitude, and dual Last Wish.
About 4,3K hp and Life Tap procs all the time.
When Talic uses both of his spells simultaniously only rejuvs can save ya..

I did, i teleported away when Talic made his WW and waited for som new barbarians to spawn to have more life tapped enemies to hit on.
Don't get me wrong here, its supposed to be hard. But when a lifepool of over 4k vaporizes, ppl will have a har time on the summit.
Talics Blizzard hits hard aswell.

think Dwarf Star would help against Talic fire dmge?
There was a post on reddit that said that Colossal ancients now are harder than ubers. And most chars that could handle them are out of luck now. Damage buff is huge.
cold fissure: 621-649 -> 2058-2968
fire twisters: 405.5-407.5 -> 2788-4028
thunderstorm: 121-220 -> 378-538
Sucks for hardcore players.
You will need to completely re-gear yourself for them on some builds. And they got the same treatment as ubers in the way that they are now unaffected by prevent monster heal, so previous builds now struggle to outdamage their healing. Also means your merc will be dying super quickly now as they now have a buff to damage to henchmen.

Yeah, I'll go for some fire absorb next time. At least it will give me some extra time to pop a rejuv.
Considering this buff, i really think we'll se prices on jewels go up from here on. Even though statues are esier to come by now.

After testing on a few builds, still feels weaker than ubers to me.
Given, my merc now actually has a chance to die so they did get buffed but he, too still doesn't die nearly as easily as he can when targeted by uber meph, let alone Lilith. So mweh.
For the actual character, assuming proper gear, still no risk whatsoever. You merely do want to remember to overstack resistances to counter their penalty.
The endless add spawn is rather annoying though, seeing how all but one of the ancients keeps moving away from you and the perma-surround just makes it unnecessarily annoying trying to follow them around. Still doesn't add much of a challenge, but an annoyance none the less.
How did you get your ass handed to you "right as [you] went through the portal" though? They still don't spawn until after you hit the altar. No change there. Portal remains a safe zone with nothing there to kill you on the initial zone in.

After u spawn them and you return to Harrogath they all wait for u to stick ur nose out through the portal..

The easiest (to gear for it) - as so often - I suppose remains a plain old uber smiter.
Though I've tested with a few of my chars now and pretty much any that (a) have some sort of leech (b) can overstack enough res and (c) bring something to stop their healing can handle it just fine.
The leech part in that is optional I suppose but it does make it a lot easier if you can just stand there and tank everything, rather than having to Dodge stuff.
The healing counter is equally optional in theory though if you don't have that, you will need some meta-esque build that can actually throw out enough DPS to simply outperform the healing instead.
The res part is fairly non-optional as without res, even 6k+ life won't save you from dying rather quickly.
Well and you need some decent amount of life I guess but that should be obvious. A 500 life full dex zon won't have a good time in there, even with extra res. ^^

The Impale zon i've tested is built basically the same as a smiter ( Dracul's Grasp, Guillaume's Face, Gore Rider), but she loses out on some resists bc she has to use a 4x Perfect Diamond Monarch instead of a paladin shield. That and her fpa is so low with Impale i'm worried she'll take enough damage between hits to die before she can leech ... Tristram she can do fairly comfortably tho
I'll test w Kira's Guardian instead maybe and see if it doesn't take an hour w just 15% cb from Gore Rider
