In Diablo terms, I've stopped picking up additional copies of Tal's Mask and I've finally stopped picking up low runes like El and Eth.
For you Diablo whales, who can fill an entire trade window with Jah runes, 3/20/20s, etc.; what is your "quarter on the sidewalk" that you no longer stop to pickup?
And conversely, what is the quarter on the sidewalk that is still so meaningful to you that you will never not pick it up?

Is this a trick question? If not, then the answer is rather simple:
Anything that is being filtered out by my in-game loot filter qualifies as that "quarter".

My loot filter tends to take care of (far) more things than not.
As for picking up runes, right now, even El is included, simply because the stack isn't at 99 yet for it. Once it is, the loot filter will be taking care of all of that as well.
Probably the more apt comparison I believe is via "min trade value".
Non-ladder at least, I typically won't bother creating/logging in for a trade below Ist. And realistically, Ist is still pushing it these days, considering how many Jah are being thrown at everything atm.
Ladder, especially early on, is a bit different, seeing how we're all back to 0.
As for picking up runes, right now, even El is included, simply because the stack isn't at 99 yet for it. Once it is, the loot filter will be taking care of all of that as well.

I personally pick up EVERY rune & gem (unless they are too far way & of low value I might sometimes leave them behind.)
every charm, every rare ring, rare amulet , rare Boots & certain rare helmets for identification and keep the ones of some value or great value.

Magic rings in general. They can be great, but unlike amulets they feel very unrewarding to pick up and identify.
I always wonder who cleans up the settlements after the Heros left behind their waste on the Ground.
I will not take offers that bypass diablo2.io
I will continue to pickup any stackable item such as runes until I hit 99, unless they're valuable, except Hel runes, because I'm compelled to pick them up, otherwise I let them lay where they are. I no longer pickup base items such as polearms, archon plates, and phase blades unless they're Eth or something I'm specifically searching for. From there I let my loot filter do its job.
