Hi folks.
I am Brand new to trading on here. As I'd like to avoid irritating anyone via my ineptitude... once someone replies to an item listing I have made, how do I contact them and arrange to meet to actually do the trade?
Sorry if this is something that should be obvious. I'm not the quickest.
Thanks,
Mandoodoo.

Welcome to the forum!
add them on Battlenet, if you know their handle or send a PM to arrange a trade.
If both of you are online, you also can create a game and let them know game name, pw and server.

OP
Hi Elektro,
Can I message them through diablo or only through Battlenet? I am having quite a bit of trouble making contact with them, and i am sure it's me who is messing it up.

you can reply to the thread where you posted the item, or DM the person. Sometimes it can be tough with different time zones.
OP
How do I DM them, please? I have their battlenet ID, but just get "Failed to join Channel" when I attempt to message?
OP
AH! Ok, I have done that. Thank you. Suppose it's just a waiting game.
yeah most trading done through this website is asynchronous. So, at least in my experience, I browse when I'm working or bored, would see stuff i was interested, reply on the thread and then add them on b.net when i got home.
whenever we were both on b.net we would just make a game and trade. If you've used traderie it's a bit different. Traderie trades are almost instant.
I think the longest i've waited to put a trade together with someone was 8 days. I was US time he was EU time and we had to get together on a saturday morning for me, evening for him, and just needed to plan around it.

Welcome! Always good to ask.Mandoodoo wrote: 6 hours agoHi folks.

PM trades are not idle.
Instead, REPLY to the thread so the seller is informed automatically.
In addition its easier to track sale history as teebling has programmed the site by building the database relying on each successful user COMPLETED transaction.
You can save your BNET id in your profile so it will show up automatically. Go to your profile page details to save all relevant contact information.
You may also refer to the following reference as guidance.
As the person offering has replied to my thread, each time i complete the trade i can tag the person automatically and we can reciprocate the +1 rep at the same time.
OP
Thanks folks. I just want to avoid annoying anyone too badly.
Most times you can see on this site, if your traiding partner is online.
There is a small dot left to the username (green if online or gray if offline)
If your partner is online, the trade is usually completed in minutes.

Thank you! I will look for the green dot when I buy stuff =D
OP
And first trade done! Thank you so much folks, and the buyer too, for your patience with me.
Do we think it would be worthwhile developing an on-site instant messenger (with push notifications) like Traderie has, to facilitate communication between traders?
OP
I think that would be an amazing function, yes. I don't know how difficult an addition like that is, though.
It's quite a big lift yes - I always thought that it wasn't necessary though considering that the site already has push notifications for thread responses AND direct messages, and that most traders communicate directly with each other through the Battle.net instant messenger. Adding yet another means of communication seems a bit redundant to me but maybe I am underestimating the usefulness of an IM here.Mandoodoo wrote: 1 hour agoI think that would be an amazing function, yes. I may also be overestimating its usefulness. Huge noob here, me.
I just want to chime in and add that battle.net messaging might be clunky with the release of the steam version of D2R. I don't know how true that is as I used to play exclusively offline before the release, but it might be good to consider. I play mostly on my steamdeck nowadays and browse the trades with my phone so an instant messaging feature on the site would be welcome on my end, although the direct messages do the job.
