Adding on to the original question: a lot of guides for farming assume you're playing single player and can mess with the players setting (like a COWARD). What are the best strategies for strictly farming online?
Expect to die frequently by strangers in online games no matter how well equipped you are there are too many exploits in public games to Claim safe farming in random players games.
The best strategy is understanding the above and doing the remotest named mobs/field clearing if the rando's are hell bent on finding you they will.
OTHERWISE play with FRIENDS in private games and avoid the random hostilities.
You want to call that cowardice well when the rando joins hops into town after goes agro then everyone suddenly dies to the glitching often enough. You'll find it annoying enough to avoid too

I'm sorry? I have never been killed by anyone in a public game. Whether it was a
Baal
game, split mf game, or anything else.
(and I don't mean that I'm good at PvP, quite the contrary - I have just never engaged anyone in PvP in a public game because it has never been necessary)
Have you really encountered this a lot?

I'm in CET (Central European Time), so that's UTC+1 normally and UTC+2 during DST.
My profile says Ladder, but I play both Ladder and Non-Ladder.
My profile says Softcore, but I play both Softcore and Hardcore.
My Holy Grail Tracker is for Offline Hardcore.

I genuinely haven't died to a player since at least 2007 because I simply don't participate in PvP lmao, does that even happen?

Depends on your char capability.
Must seek the aLvl 85 area, such as The Pit,
Ancient Tunnels
and high density
Terror
zones.

Pindleskin
is very nice and quick farm.

For runes and bases
Chaos Sanctuary
and
The Secret Cow Level
are appropriates.

The Countess
is excelent if you are seeking mid runes.
