Description

Check out my personal best: ethereal 15ed
Archon Plate
.

But how did reach 905 def?

Taking the highest possible normal base def 524:

At first I thought it would be 524 * (1 + 50% + 15%) then I got 864 which is quite off.

Then it must be 524 * (1 + 50%) * (1 + 15%) = 903.

It still has 2 pts off.. Thoughts?

Okay, if you do 905/1.15/1.5 you get 524.63 --- so the base def wasn't an integer maybe?

no , it is not, the item always 524.x , it only show 524. You have to guess how good it is for 524 def. it might 524.1 or 524.9

there are many item in this situation, like
Military Pick
.
it says 7-11. You have to guess how good it is for 11. is it 11.1 or 11.9.
There is difference for 11.1 vs 11.9 in case of ED15 , it is 12 or 13 difference. which makes it very hard for ED . in case of 11.9, you dont need ed 15 to get full damage.

The ethreal formula is def x 1.5 x 1.ED .

The AI will only tell you unclear answer, you need to find it yourself.

Please be aware, all my trade is in non ladder d2r. Not warlock.

An item that drops with enhanced defense always has the maximum value of the base’s defense range +1.

This is true for superior items, uniques, sets, rares, crafted and magic items.

You can see it while an item is still unidentified. For example, a blue unidentified
Monarch
has 149 defense if it has enhanced defense. Normally Monarchs only roll up to 148 defense.

It’s not true for rune words of course - rune words take an existing base and adds bonuses to it, the base’s defense is as it is even if the rune word adds enhanced defense.

Also - if you upgrade an item (normal to exceptional or exceptional to elite), the base defense is re-rolled randomly within the upgraded base’s defense range, and it loses the hidden + 1 bonus.

In this case, the base defense is 525 (as I explained above).

525 * 1.5 =787.5
Truncated to 787

787 * 1.15 = 905.05
Truncated to 905

This exact case been asked about before:
