For while, I suggest you keep it, unless you have a lot of Vex, Ohm and Ist to spend. First a player must focus in having the runewords, in other moment, try improving the runewords.

keep it and wait until you get an Eth 45 base. If you really want to do a new one spend 1-3 ists on a new non-Eth base and try selling this to get some value back. 16 Defiance > any def roll imo

That's kind of how I do things, through a process of elimination. I usually start with about 3 bases at the same time. If I roll a perfect or near perfect in the first try then I stop. If I roll a less than perfect then I'll make another attempt in a second shield. If it's better than the first then I will get rid of the first. If they're about the same, then I'll roll a 3rd base. In the end if there is no functional benefit to continuing then I'll stop. I have an ethereal Vortex, but with only 9% to all resists and in my view for doing Ubers, resists are more important than a little higher defense.
I was leveling my Char (my 1st Mosaic) and searched every corner of Plains of Despair twice while seeking for Izual (to complete 1st quest) but couldn't find him even after killing all monsters...
I started to think that was some bug, when I opened the Quest window and the message was "Return to Tyrael for reward "
Probably I killed Izual without even notice that... together with some trash mob while clearing the area

I feel your pain. But it's not that bad. I sold similar one, iirc. 34/110/8 for 3 Ist (you can probably find it in the trade history). Not all chars need 35 fcr.

You can still use them for a long time. Boots rarely lose durability.
Nah, i have a pair with 46%, so totally not worth the upgrade, and i don't really have space for something so longterm useless.
I'll probably give them away to someone who needs them enough to use them up.
