Description
I came back to D2 after 20 years.
Back then I had no high runes, etc.
I have been playing on the softcore ladder for the past few weeks, and I was able to collect
1 Jah
2 Ber
with some couple Vex/ Ist/ Mal.
Now that I can make Enigma or Infinity, what should I do?
What to invest in? Maybe something different?
I have paladin, javazon and sorc.
I am not interested in Mosaic Assassin. I've seen it, and it seems way too broken. After trying it, I would probably not want to play other characters.
I have Enigma base, also Eth 4soc Mancatcher and 4soc Eth Scythe.
If I choose Enigma, I don't know what character to use.
I have decent geared javazon, but she doesn't really feel powerful.
At first I was set to have self-wielding Infinity Nova sorc but now I am not sure...

Can be used to make Runewords:

I really like my self wield Infinity Nova Sorc. Mine was a little squishy at first but once I get her leveled into the 90s she really flys and can do everything fast minus ubers I have not tried but she melts Dclones.

Enigma is probably the most universal choise, as it removes the disadvantage of not having Teleport. You can simply keep it in shared stash for all your characters to use.
But it really is up to your preference - maybe you are not interested in endless boss-grinding, then you can live without access to Teleport I guess...
Anyway, sorceress can be viable even without Infinity, so I would advice against spending almost all your runes on it.

I don't know what Helm your Javazon is using, but if you don't want to spend a HR on a Griffon's Eye, then Wisdom is a phrnominal budget option.
The +33% Pierce removes the need for Razortail and allows the damage and survivability boost of Thundergod's Vigor. Ravenfrost can be replaced with a SOJ due to Wisdom's Cannot Be Frozen Mod. The +5 To Mana After Each Kill and the +4-8% Mana Leech helps mitigate the mana hungry nature of a Javazon who might not have a Phoenix shield yet.

I'm willing to accept other forms of currency. Like Tokens, Keys, Perfect Gems, and certain minor runes in lieu of my asking price. I'm also willing to accept rune combinations that add up to my asking price.
OP
This is what I was thinking. But Nova sorc only with Infinity will be viable? I don't have a Griffons.

But the problem is there is that I don't really have a worthy character to put Enigma on.

And it felt meh, even cows P1.

What type of paladin do you have? If he is a hammerdin, Enigma is amazing for him.

My Nova sorc did not start out as a Nova sorc she was a MF Chain Lightning sorc for a few months. She wore Tal armor MF set up and she was only a little bit slower than my Nova sorc is now but with way more MF perhaps you should try an old school light sorc build and farm a Griffons.

I have smiter/foh build from GGM.
I had hammer paladin 20 years ago and aoe of this ability is annoying.
I sold unidentified griffon for 2 Ber runes just like few hours ago. xDKillingestGOLDENAK47 wrote: 6 months agoMy Nova sorc did not start out as a Nova sorc she was a MF Chain Lightning sorc for a few months. Well, hammerdin is by far the cheapest end game build to make, so if you would like to be efficient, that is the way to go (easy res, even with mediocre items -like a random mara, random ~40res base Spirit, random hoto, random cta -since you've got so many +all skills, even a low one works fine...).
It's really hard to make HR spending recommendations (aka build recommendations) without knowing preferred play style.
However you pretty much won't go wrong with making an Enigma or Infinity in an Eth elite base. Enigma can be used for so many different builds. Its just that good and versatile. Eth elite Infinity is also very versatile. Your merc, for pretty much any elemental build, can use it and you can self wield it with a lightning sorc.
With the runes you have though, my vote is Enigma. It makes so many non-viable builds now viable. And many others mediocre builds can be meta with an Enigma.
Just my two cents.

You should first decide which build you're going to spend the most time playing. Then you can prioritize and use your runes where they will get the most use, and then you can use that build to provide for future builds.
Most relevant things are already said. However, if you plan making a selfwielding Infinity for your Sorc I would recommend a non- Eth base. As long as you are not hitting something you are fine of course with an Eth base. But for "safety reasons" I would still be hesitant putting two Ber in an Eth base which can at least potentially "crack"
After a 20 year break from D2 I started playing D2R in 2024 with my sons (9 and 10 years old)

1. Infinity for merc (must have)
2. Enigma
3. Griffon
4. (Most controversial) Phoenix instead of Spirit
End of course sunder charm
Best upgrade I made for my Javazon
My vote goes to Enigma on your javazon. Then you can farm anything anywhere in the game.

Javazon seems to be one of most expensive chars to gear.Szambodiver wrote: 6 months agoJavazon is absolutely crack, but you need to be well gearedpokyfudywise wrote: 6 months agoThis is what I was thinking. But Nova sorc only with Infinity will be viable? I don't have a Griffons.

Many others chars are more expensive but javazon is expensive, yes.

At least 6 ml and an ethereal titan will greatly reduce that need.

But it's worth:)
OP
I made an Enigma in perf Mage Plate but of course it rolled 752 on defense - just my luck. xD
This is why I sold Griffons instead of identifying it.
I have the worst luck in games.
