Okay we know for HRs we robotically go to
Lower Kurast
,
The Secret Cow Level
, or I dunno
Arcane Sanctuary
due to
Wraith
. I sometimes like to farm
Pindleskin
because I can turn my brain off and watch something on YouTube. I have received HRs from the dude in the past. Is it a super inefficient way though? Not saying it's better than the aforementioned zones, just curious how bad or 'good' it may be.

Can be used to make Runewords:

Speaking of contrarian thoughts...I don't actually farm any one area (unless its something that can ONLY drop from specific places - Keys, essences, etc).

It's going to sound weird, with me being a massive D2 fan, but I simply cannot do more than 10 runs of anything in a row. I just can't do it. I find it irritating after around 7-8 runs. It starts manifesting as a physical discomfort in my spine around the 10th run. I know, super weird.

So I just like to...play the game. Go through the acts, target the high-reward spots, and move on. I also play on an older xbox my lobby to game time is 30 seconds and act to act times are 20 seconds. So target farming a spot it just so painfully slow anyways. I spend more time in load screens than anything else. I pretty much have to play the way I play.

As for
Pindleskin
- I dont farm him much but this guy did 10k pindle runs and kept track of every find.

I am take a break from D2. I am bumping trades to prevent expiration, but I am not trading, providing xbox/pc transfers, or price checks for the foreseeable future.

I suspect he drops runes as often as any other monster in the game. and Give you aren't killing many monsters very quickly by target farming him, your rune drops will be quite low.
What makes cows great for runes (extreme density) is what makes pindle very bad for runes.

It's about the same chance a HRs dropping from Pindle as if you were to just go through Nightmare and Hell playing normally, I would say. However, yes, Pindle is mega easy to access which makes him very popular target to farm not only HRs but also other items (stated by someone who hates endless farming and literally cannot force myself to do any kind of target farming, it's just too much boring for my taste).
P.S. Yesterday (or I guess now is already day before yesterday), playing with my father, we had a
Gul
drop from random ass regular monster in Halls on Nightmare which is something like 1:250k drop (in addition to that we also got 3 skillers from the same map -- insanity indeed). It can happen. It's awesome when it happens but it's very unlikely... However, I did experience getting a HR or something like at least
Pul
+ from every single character I played thru the game normally so far. Aaaaand HRs usually dropped in most random places for me (but also many of them dropped in Cows and Tower) -- I will forever remember a
Jah
dropping somewhere in
River of Flame
,
Ber
from a monster in Forge room,
Lo
from
Cold Plains
and
Cham
literally on the "doors" of the Throne Room (those 4 were also done with 4 completely different characters just going thru the game, although 2 of them were on ladder which I also don't like playing hehe). :)

Ma neeeeeeema veeeeeeeze! xd

Someone much smarter than me already said once: "The real value of something doesn't reflect in a number of how much a seller can ask for it, but on how much a buyer is willing to pay."

Yep, same as I do. Just play the game, run around, don't care about drop chances. I have many heroes, and most of them are able to farm any area. I like the variety in playstyle and challenge. Sometimes I go to Swampy Pit just to feel like a masochist, haha.

I have found a
Jah
in act 1, a
Ber
in tombs and so on. Good stuff can drop anywhere, but I am happy about any slight improvement, for example a charm that adds 1 more life.

ElSolDolLol

For low items I also accept: Perfect Amys,
Ral
,
Hel
, Tokens, Keys. Please don't offer runes lower than
Pul
(with the named exceptions).

Same here. I am too old for only doing repetitive quick runs. When I have done one hour
Travincal
or Andy TZ I am exhausted 😁
Unfortunately, my older son has a "rushing tendency". He is mostly screens ahead of me and my younger son and therefore we have to "take care" of the drops 😉

On topic: I play since June last year and have found:
Fun fact: I found
Ber
and
Jah
within one hour in
Chaos Sanctuary
, but also got an
Eth
instead of an
Ith
😁

Enjoyed the replies. I keep forgetting that the brilliance of this game is these moments of rarity can occur seemingly at random, versus requiring to constantly 'target' specifically. It's a nice reality check.

I will say, playing offline that targeting Nightmare
Andariel
was the only way to get my first
The Stone of Jordan
and subsequent
Annihilus
small charm!

I dropped 4
The Stone of Jordan
so far 😇 - but none from
Andariel
😉

It's interesting. I enjoy the playthrough experience of this game way more than I do the endgame grind, and like many of us in this thread can't bring myself to do the same run too many times in a row without getting bored. I do still farm, and have most of my characters at level 90+, but it's been a slow walk for most of them and idk how many chars have ended up recycled due to limited character slots (RIP D2R's worst feature).

Looking at my screenshots, 11/20 of the high runes I've picked up since D2R were in 'meta' areas like Trav, WSK, cows. The other 9 were in random places, like next to the waypoint in
Outer Cloister
while heading to the
Barracks
to kill
The Smith
. So...yes, the meta areas and strats are meta for a reason, and 4 hours of trav is more efficient than 1 hour of trav and 3 hours of act 1 hell progression on a leveling character. But 1 hour of trav and 3 hours of act 1 progression are better than 30 mins of trav and then logging off out of boredom.

At the end of the day, it's more important to spend time in the game. If you're doing something, you stand a chance of getting something. JMOD can drop anywhere in Acts 3-5 hell after all, right?

Well put. Cool that you can do a lookback in terms of where HRs have dropped for you over/time.
