(I did implicitly concede in my post that melee builds are the most likely to want CBF it since they might be unavoidably frozen a lot, but even that depends on what kind of run you're doing and if you are only being significantly chilled a few times in-between visiting merchants, I think it can be worth considering for the above reasons.)
I totally understand where you are coming from with the thawing potions. If I was a new player I'd probably collect/buy them instead of using CBF gear. However, after playing for 20 years, starting a new habit of looking for, collecting, and/or remembering to buy Thawing potions is just not on the table for me. I'm also a very lazy player. I like one-click builds (hdin, light
Nova
sorc, javazon, etc). Remembering to collect thawing potions is just another thing I'd need to do :)

I know you originally asked about Trapsins (I don't play that), but for caster characters, I don't even bother with finding a source of CBF. It doesn't effect their cast rate, and I can just
Teleport
away if needed.
Actually I've been playing since the stress test beta (act 1 only, and the only way to upgrade gems was finding gem shrines), and I'm basically the opposite. I bought into the conventional Wisdom of CBF forever, then tried thawing potions and was surprised at how easy they were to use in most of my runs, and I appreciated the gear freedom they offered. Something I forgot to mention above is that once I had a GF barbarian, I discovered the joys of charged items. If you poke around on traderie you can get some pretty darn good rings with charges of a good debuff spell (in addition to resists, MF, leech, etc.) I wouldn't wanna
Sacrifice
all that for a Ravenfrost. (And I already covered what you're giving up if you devote a socket to a
Cham
.)

It is a little bit more work, yeah. If you're looking to strictly minimize the amount of actions and attention required, then CBF does offer significant advantages there. Sometimes I like to play on autopilot (like when leveling) but definitely not all of the time.

(The guy who was asking about trapsins was someone else, btw. I just replied there first, then realized this was a larger point I wanted to make outside the confines of that discussion.)

WTF are you being so aggressive? It really isn't necessary. I, was being genuine. I really thought you knew someone selling
Cham
for 1
Ist
each.

I'm also not sure why you included your whole second paragraph. In my response to you I never mentioned Ravenfrost or how they are or their value, even if I haven't given 3 of them away. I also never mentioned gems at all so not sure why you included that either.
Are you trying to make yourself look epic levels of stupid?

The text i QUOTED and REPLIED to read "First, a low
Raven Frost
is rather cheap, can probably obtained for a couple of pgems." No mention of any
Cham
of any kind what so ever anywhere. That was purely your invention out of nothing and had absolutely no relevance to my post.

My 2nd paragraph was included, because the ONLY THING I REPLIED TO was about Ravenfrost and perfect-gems. And in case you missed it, Necrarch, who i replied to, has already agreed that he was apparently out of touch with the current pricing. Twice.

Why don't you try the amazing idea of scrolling back up and actually bother to LOOK at what you replied to with something that had absolutely no relevance to it and then get angry when i tell you so.
I misread your post originally. I thought you were saying
Cham
was 1
Ist
and not Ravenfrost. I still don't see how that warranted you jumping off the top rope.

Edit: No I wasn't angry but I was confused and surprised by the intensity level of your response. I find it a bit disappointing that you feel its OK to talk to people the way you just did. A little bit a kindness goes a long way.

I'm willing to accept other forms of currency. Like Tokens, Keys,
Perfect Gems
, and certain minor runes in lieu of my asking price. I'm also willing to accept rune combinations that add up to my asking price.

My bad man, I thought you were the OP asking about CBF, but I see my mistake now :)

My GF barb uses a
Cham
and
Lem
in IK
Helm
. At 2100% GF though I'm not sure another
Lem
will make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things, but you've convinced me to at least TRY the thawing potions, haahaa

OP's idea is not bad. Many players use their
Belt
slots for scrolls for example, to save inventory space. Replacing one scroll column with one
Thawing Potion
column wouldn't hurt. Most stuff is not worth picking up either, so the scrolls aren't missed much. And freeing up a ring slot or a
Helm
socket gives you more options for extra punch.

I think more players would utilize the belt for this purpose if thawing potions (and also antidotes, scrolls - ideally configurable) were placed automatically in the belt when picked up, like health and mana (and rejuv) potions do. Or if they filled the belt if bought with Shift+click. Placing them manually is tedious.

I use the
Belt
for scrolls. I try to leave atleast one scroll in each slot (to never deplete an entire column). That way picking one up or buying from a vendor fills up the
Belt
. But yea, if I use the last one, then it becomes a pain to refill.

Full manual placement is never necessary. Shift-click buying to fill DOES work, provided you're not completely out. (And shift click from inventory works regardless of whether there's already one in the
Belt
.)

Yeah it would be nice if they gave an QOL option toggle somewhere to put them in an empty
Belt
slot if picked up or bought with none in the
Belt
, but it's a pretty minor issue. It doesn't come up very often with a 4 row
Belt
, and shift click from inventory isn't a very painful workaround if you do run out of thaws.

I keep town portal scrolls on my belt, on 3rd slot. I keep one on the bottom slot, two full rejuvs potions on middle and on the last place (the upper place) another scroll. If I'm using it (the upper one), when I play and find another scroll it just goes in the empty slot by itself when I click it on the ground.
If I use the bottom one and the potions comes down then I have to manually put the scroll on my belt as the rows are now "potions" dedicated (the bottom item tells which items are auto-stored on the belt).

I've seen a ton of builds bend over backwards just to get that Cannot be Frozen in there. But unless you're chugging olympic swimming pools' worth of potions or meleeing with hordes that chill you... why make that gear sacrifice, why not just use thawing potions?

It's my understanding that both thawing potions and Cannot be Frozen are equally ineffective against
Holy Freeze
, and non-holy freeze chilling is usually not something that happens frequently during a run (it's mostly problematic when you get with those ice novas on death.)

EDIT: Unrelated: how do you turn off that automatic keyword nonsense (on "Death", "
Sacrifice
", etc.)
? ty @ShadowHeart
For Caster builds CBF is almost totally unnecessary. For melee builds it is super necessary (Jorge Masvidal reference right there for any UFC fans, lol).

Virtually every decent farming spot has cold damage to slow down melee builds, and especially in HC, slowed down can mean the difference between life and Death.

Travincal
, Meph, CS & Diablo, WSK &
Baal
, all the Ice cavern levels, just to name a few off top of my head - all have enemies with cold damage/chilling effects that always spawn. Even
Andariel
, you stand a good chance of getting a cold enchanted elite pack spawn right nearby.

Builds like
Frenzy
Barb, WW Barb, Zealer, Smiter, etc I could go on, need that CBF to be efficient and have manageable QoL.

Brother, you are the only one here that seems angry, and you're flinging insults for no reason. Chill out man, we're all adults here.
