Hey! So I have been running The pit with my sorc to get a Monarch shield.. in like 30-40 runs Ive got nothing! My level is 76 and MF is 0-15%.. what am I doing wrong?

Can be used to make Runewords:
Target farming is a quick way to drive yourself crazy. However, the best place to farm runeword bases is in cows with 0% MF. The large monster density of the moo-moo farm coupled with the level being wide and open, fosters the perfect place for bases.

Hang in there, it’ll drop. A few weeks from now you’ll be like “another Monarch? Who cares!”
You can join and enter premade cow games on hell difficulty even if you haven't beaten hell yet. You can follow them around and hope a Monarch drops. I recommend just playing the game in hell and it will happen.

Not sure what you are using as a weapon, but Spirit in a Crystal Sword is a good sorc starter weapon. The CtC Teleport on occy is a deathwish, especially since it appears you are Hardcore.

Yeah I have been using Spirit sword since NM. And yup, Occy is a deathwish, just teleported me the f away haha. Yes Im playing HC.
I've had numerous Monarch drops in the Tower and cow level, as well as the River of Flame (recently found a 15 ed 15 imd one there, non-TZ), Chaos Sanctuary and the Worldstone levels.

A normal one is worth like a Pul rune from what I saw in price history.

If you drop (ou buy) a non-socketed one, remember that Act 5 Quest 1 ( Larzuk) always add max sockets (4 in the case of Monarch 
)

I know you haven't made it to act 3 yet, but in act 3 Lower Kurast has a lot of poppables. Often a cracked/crude Monarch will drop, and that's good enough! It'll get 4 sockets at larz. Pop chests, logs, stashes, skeles, etc.
I'll be doing some Baal runs today - no promises, I'll keep an eye out for one.
