Is there a limit of auras for the Merc? If yes, how do exactly the Insight+Prayer+Cure combo work?

Description

I have read is some places that there is a limit of 2 auras for the Mercenaries.
If this is true, how exactly the Insight (
Meditation
) +
Prayer
+ Cure (
Cleansing
) combo works?

Two of the auras are active (probably
Meditation
and
Cleansing
) and the third (
Prayer
) only gives synergies?

I have to do some trick to get
Meditation
and
Cleansing
as the active auras?
(or Equipment auras always have precedence over the Merc "natural" aura?)

You can always make alternative offers with Keys.

My Act 2 Merc has Cure, Insight, and his natural
Prayer
Aura and all three are active at the same time just normally.

All trades can be accomplished via PC or xbox. All reasonable offers will be considered and probably accepted.

They can provide up to 2 Auras. Stacking more Auras leads to the deactivation of one of them.

I think the
Key
words in the quote are that a mercenary "can provide your Character with up to 2 Auras" but that doesn't mean you can't make use of auras provided by a source other than your mercenary.

There's nothing that you need to change in your title, because others might have the same question.

But on the two examples above the 3-4 auras all come from the mercenary...
(And all auras are auras that affect you and the Mercenary)

Maybe only 2 auras are animated at the same time, but all of them are active nevertheless?
In legacy D2 it was only one aura (changing cyclically), but it was only a visual effect.

And an additional post you made, I don't think I understand your original question. I think we are interpreting the word "for" in your line of "limit of 2 auras for the Mercenaries", differently.

And assuming that it was correct, I made my question about builds where Merc have more than 2 auras.

- After I created the post:
From the other users posts, seems like the link info is incorrect (or at least outdated), and you can actually put any number of auras on the Merc (seems like the limit is 4, but only limited by the equipment each Merc could use)

Then trying to not

other future users I changed the "Title" (the old one affirmed that Merc could only have 2 auras, the new one asks if it is true)

Your post made me curious. Verified with an Act II mercenary serving my
Strafe
bowazon. On initial game load no auras appear, and that's reflected in the merc's attributes. Once moved to
Black Marsh
via a waypoint, bowazon's Faith fanatisism kicked in on him. After a short bout merc's natural Might aura and Fortitude's
Chilling Armor
also kicked in. Applied
Battle Command
and
Battle Orders
with a CTA - all 5 auras appeared active, and that's reflected in the mercs attributes. The respective screenshots available upon request.

In the case, for the question, there is only 1 aura from the Merc (Might)
Chilling Armor

are not auras (just buffs)
Faith
Fanaticism
is an aura but it is from you.

A test will be like:
Merc 2 equipped with Pride / Insight + Bramble + Cure / Flickering Flame
In this case there will be 4 auras from the Merc (1 for each item plus the Merc "natural aura").

Some users reported on this thread that this works normally. 👍👍👍

(I found a link - that seems outdated/wrong - that said that in this case only 2 auras would work. That's why I created the thread...)

You all already know the answer. There is no 2-aura limit. If there was, that whole "omg passive healing with Cure so gud!"
Frenzy
would never have happened as Cure + Insight +
Prayer
merc would've been the exact same as the earlier Insight +
Prayer
merc, due to the 3rd aura and hence 3rd healing effect being blocked. Since it isn't and the healing does go up again, you already knew all 3 worked and there hence is no 2-aura limit.

Buuut just for the sake of confirmation and whatnot, say hello to Folcwald: That's flickering, Last Wish, Bramble and Hustle. So
Resist Fire
, might,
Thorns
and
Fanaticism
. All 4 auras are active (both visually and confirmed functional) for both, the merc and the barb next to him.
So yes, 4 auras off a single merc works just fine.

Maybe they forgot to edit that post on maxroll since it was something along those lines for the legacy (og D2). Yeah, people are absolutely correct when saying nowadays there aren't any 'hard limit' on number of auras you, a Merc or any party member can have (and effectively use).

On that note, I personally, would fricking love to see an 8-member party all rocking maximum number of auras they can possible get and have, for example, Act 5 Mercs stacking ultimate maximum that kind of squad can possible have and see how all of that looks (and plays). :D
