I like keeping Insight IG besides my summoner Necro since it is said that disappear bug fixed. But hey, no! Last two days, I spent 4 Insight and this makes me furious. I'm sure they disappeared because it happened a couple of times while there's no any type of fight around.
So any tips or tricks for this?

Can be used to make Runewords:

* I trade both ladder and non-ladder, please check before asking.
* All my trades are for runes, keys (especially KoT and KoH) and essences!
Teleporting is the only known way to somewhat reliably managing disappearing IGs. Look out for a Naj's Puzzler or something else with Teleport charges.basicnecromancy wrote: 2 years ago I like keeping Insight IG besides my summoner Necro since it is said that disappear bug fixed. Outside of that, maybe stick to open areas and walk slowly... but then you're a pet to the Iron Golem rather than it being yours.

Thanks. I already have Naj's staff but level is not enough yet. I have another staff but scharge is too low, annoying. And yes, TP was doing well untill Andy kills it.Katonda wrote: 2 years agoTeleporting is the only known way to somewhat reliably managing disappearing IGs. You could also just use an act 2 merc with Insight with a Clay Golem until your team/level becomes more stable. In two weeks, a bow merc with Insight will get hit less as well.basicnecromancy wrote: 2 years ago Thanks. I already have Naj's staff but level is not enough yet. necro with Insight IG for a while now, despite Meditation stops working randomly (albeit rarely), IG sticks around with teleporting (and enough skills on IG), so Enigma/ Teleport is essential for reliably having IG around.
I really love the Iron Golem and very much looking forward to use him more often.
I liked summoning him from lv50+ unique items with pretty procs like Frost Nova, Bone Spear, Curses... as long as the % proc is high enough.
Then it dies, then I resummon with something else pretty.

Had this happen with a Beast on my Bone Summon Necro the other day, it’s nothing out of the ordinary this has been happening as far as I can remember, it’s rare but it does happen.
I catched a screenshot of it happening 3months ago but it was on an Insight golem, it was hostile to me when I ran back and my merc killed it, hehehe

For now, I use Naj's staf since I'm half way through Enigma but you're right. When I simply use TP frequently then it sticks around. The weird thing is, my skelies never disappear. :/weegee wrote: 2 years ago necro with Insight IG for a while now, despite Meditation stops working randomly (albeit rarely), IG sticks around with teleporting (and enough skills on IG), so Enigma/ Teleport is essential for reliably having IG around.

Ofcourse it’s annoying when this happens and as far as I am concerned no one has an explanation for it on why it happens not even Blizzard has any idea what causes it.
The most annoying bug with IG (Yes there is another) is when you are in the middle of ur MF route and ur IG aura whatever it may be won’t apply for you. The only fix is to restart the game.

skellies used to disappear as well, they fix that in 2.3 as far as I'm aware, funny thing is no matter what Clay Golem never disappears even back in the older versionbasicnecromancy wrote: 2 years agoFor now, I use Naj's staf since I'm half way through Enigma but you're right. I’ve never seen that summons disapear without them ”dieing” ofc but I know there is an mechanic in Uber for an example when minions won’t spawn at all if you have enough summons, never had it happen the otherway though.weegee wrote: 2 years agoskellies used to disappear as well, they fix that in 2.3 as far as I'm aware, funny thing is no matter what Clay Golem never disappears even back in the older versionbasicnecromancy wrote: 2 years agoFor now, I use Naj's staf since I'm half way through Enigma but you're right. I have to necro this old thread
I lost two Insight Iron Golems today, both of them on ethereal bases with very good damage ( Great Poleaxe and Colossus Voulge).
First was my fault, I pressed the Iron Golem key and summoned a new golem from a random item from the ground. I had a feeling that I screwed it up and was convinced of that when I was entering on low mana constantly. I searched and found his body on the spot, a pile of trash metal.
The second disappeared by himself. I was on Rogue Encampment to gamble the extra gold and emptied my inventory. It was full of GC skillers and the minions started to die as I put aside the charms. Nothing unusual tho.
I took the HOTO flail off and put the Edge bow on and start gambling.
After that I put back my usual gear and I noticed that the IG icon was no more. I searched for the golem body on the ground but it was nowhere. The dead skellies were laying on the ground but the golem wasn't there.
I don't know when he disappeared, I didn't notice the exact moment.
It could be that it was summoned when I had level 26 Iron Golem and after changing gear I had only level 12? I'll try that now with a random item. No it didn't despawn. I gambled the same many times before and didn't lose the golem.
I feel bad because it was the second one that I lost today. I had a very lucky moment when I cubed the bases and got four sockets on both of them. But what comes around, goes around...

You already tested it, but for future reference, this is definitely NOT the case. It's actually true that every time we log in with an Iron Golem, his stats reroll to whatever skill level we have at the time. So, Iron Golems will fluctuate their levels throughout their lifetime. That should NOT cause them to despawn.Florian_G wrote: 1 month ago It could be that it was summoned when I had level 26 Iron Golem and after changing gear I had only level 12? Can login for trades between 7-11pm EST
Consider unassigning the hotkey for the Iron Golem skill and selecting it manually when needed. After all, you summon it infrequently and only from a decent base, so it's not worth risking the missclick.Florian_G wrote: 1 month ago First was my fault, I pressed the Iron Golem key and summoned a new golem from a random item from the ground. What I noticed they had changed in original Diablo 2 and this D2r version aswell is that if you go "too far" from your summons, THEY FUCKING DESPAWN. Instead of Teleport to you. THEY DESPAWN. Why would they make them DESPAWN!?
This one reason is why I no longer want to play one of my favorites; summoner necromancer. And D2 was the only game where it really was good (from diablo games) to play as. You need Teleport of some kind to keep your minions constantly close. If you continue walking forward and minions stay behind fighting -> they despawn.
I dont personally use Iron Golem because I never really understood why people use it. You waste an item into it to summon and then it just dies or despawns anyways, at least when you change game itll die away anyway? or if it survives then great but it wont still make it better.

IG is basically yet another item slot. You may create one from an item that provides an aura, such as Insight or, say, Pride, if you are filthy rich.Semirotta wrote: 1 month ago I dont personally use Iron Golem because I never really understood why people use it. If you Teleport, it won't despawn unless it or the necro is killed (well, not counting the bugs...). In a new game IG is resummoned, with your current IG level (so there's no point is swapping gear to summon it, unless you also leave each game in swapped gear).Semirotta wrote: 1 month ago You waste an item into it to summon and then it just dies or despawns anyways, at least when you change game itll die away anyway? or if it survives then great but it wont still make it better.
Iron Golem is very helpful. I summon it from a Insight runeword and have Meditation for easy mana. In this way I put an Infinity on merc for more damage and Conviction aura. I have two auras at the same time with help of IG.Semirotta wrote: 1 month ago I dont personally use

He doesn't die on combat (I spent four points on Golem Mastery and with my gear I have level 26 Iron Golem and level 29 Golem Mastery). He's quite tanky. Only one or two times he died on battle when I didn't pay attention on him.
I have Enigma for Teleport but I sometimes run away from my minions. They reappear in front on me when I get too far from them. I didn't lose the golem until now. I don't know what happened.
Anyway, I have another Insight golem from a Giant Tresher, so no big deal.
Iron Golem is a delicate but powerful thing.
Most of my Necroes don't use one, since there are too many ways of losing him. I died two times this month due to a disconnect. This is the main reason I will never play HC.
But an Insight golem is easily replaceable and brings a huge increase in DPS for fishy and poisonmancer.
I dared making a Pride golem out of an eth CV for an Armymancer funbuild. So far, he didn't die (10K life with maxed Golem Mastery...) and didn't disappear as well. He always teleports to me when I walk too far. Of course, I have an Enigma for emergency cases. *keeps fingers crossed*
It looks so awesome having 5 auras. I call him "Discomancer".
