Description

Hello,

Currently on my Blizzball Sorceress I have already maxed Glacial Spike, Blizzard, Fireball and Meteor, have 17 soft points on Cold Mastery and 1 point in Fire Mastery (and the usual 1 point skills) and I have some more points to spare, I'd say I have like 5 options to do so:

a) Put more points into Cold Mastery for those non 0 cold resistant monsters (about 30% of them in Hell according to what i have read).

b) Put points into Ice Bolt to increase Blizzard damage.

c) Put points into Fire Bolt to increase Fire Ball and the ocassional Meteor damage.

d) Divide points between b and c.

e) Divide points between a, b and c.

Any Insight on what do you think would be better?

Thank you!

Interesting. I did blizzball for a while and ran max blizz/ Glacial Spike with 1pt Cold Mastery (18 with + skills), max Fireball/firebolt and rest of points in Fire Mastery to boost damage. I don't really like the delay on Meteor, so I focused more on boosting Fireball damage and 105fcr. I'd say maximize whatever you have more +skills to (I found 3 cold skillers, so I leaned more into cold spec).

If you play Blizzard + Meteor than try and max all the skills with synergy for Blizzard, you only need in Cold Mastery as much to get -100 Enemy Cold Res(double dmg) what is above that is not effective so you don’t need to spend more.

For Fire put 1 point in Warmth for mana regen and obviously try and put the remainder in Fire Mastery.

1 skill point can go in Frozen Armor also.

Damage wise you only put 1 point in Fire Mastery for the initial 30%, from there the synergies give you more damage than then extra points in Fire Mastery since Fire Mastery benefits from +skills but the extra damage from synergies don't so you need to find a balance, in my case i have already 19 soft points on Fire Mastery so i benefit more from synergies. (I edited this part because it wasn't entirely accurate).

Also about Cold Mastery, it is not that above lvl 17 (-100) is not effective, it is just that only about 30% of the enemies in Hell have Cold Resistance > 0 and < 100 so it is only effective in about 30% of the monsters.

That is wrong because Fire Masteries and Synergies does not stack additive but multiplicative. If the bonus percentage of synergies is twice as high as Fire Mastery percentage (+equipment fire skill bonus) then it is better to skill Fire Mastery.

For example if you have 20 point in Meteor,1 point in Fire Bolt and 1 point in Fire Mastery, the bonus is +294% and Fire Mastery is +30% with the final Fireball damage of 1022–1160. If you add 10 points to Fire Bolt, you increase the synergy bonus by 140% to +434% bonus damage with a Fireball damage of 1385–1572. If you instead add 10 point to Fire Mastery, you add 70% to +100% fire skill damage with Fireball damage of 1572–1785. In that example you get 200 more damage of Fire Mastery. Before you skill Fire Bolt, you should raise Fire Mastery to 17 (including +Skill but without +fire skill damage) and then distribute equally until Fire Mastery is at max.
