Now level 78 and have killed Hell Baal yesterday without much difficulty but a bit slow with only my squeletons. I've heard Mages are not great, maybe max Revives now that they fixed it? Even maxed I will have spare points left and a few more to come by leveling. Looking for tips. Maybe I will widen my CE area.

Personally, I think you can't go wrong with maxing Revive. You already maxed Skelly Mastery, and got alot of +skills into Summon Resist, so these all synergize into your Revives. Just put 1 point into mage, and then plop down Revive to maximum. The bigger your Undead army, the better! But the downside is, in crowded games, you will be known as the Lag-o-mancer ;P

Finally an answer, thanks for replying! I say this because I asked the same on reddit in /Diablo and after 24 hours not a single reply. It took 100 views here to get a single reply.
I think I'll go that way for now, once maxed what would you do with extra points? Enlarge CE area?
Perhaps you want to combine your skeletons with Poison Nova? Idea is very simple - max skeletons+max mastery+(1 each of clayg/gmastery/sumnresist), 1 Teeth, 1ce, max Nova, and the rest divided between Dagger@explosion. Optional - add 1pt to Decrepify or/and 1pt Lower Resist.
Another approach is to develop Bone Spear+Bone Spirit instead of poison - so you can add some punch from your left click Cheaper also, btw - this way you don't need to think about Bramble + deathweb + trang combo.

You haven't maxed CE?
STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL SCUM!
Anyway, it depends on what you want. If you're planning on using Iron Golem late game with some quality runewords, then max Golem Mastery and add to Blood Golem for life synergy. If you want to play zookeeper and micromanage, then max Revive. If you want extra survivability, put 1 in Bone Armor and put the rest into Bone Prison and Bone Wall synergies.
But whatever you choose to do, do not, under any circumstance, put any more than 1 point into skeletal mage.

The poison hybrid route is fine, but I do not advocate for the Bone Spear or Bone Spirit route. You need all of your points heavily invested into that to make it viable. It's too weak otherwise.

haven't played a necro in over 20 years. I thought skellies were lame once NM and Hell ? Geting 1 shotted
That's absolutely false, my skellys wreck-it ralph everything in Hell. I support them with amplify, CE, revives, and Bone Spear/Bone Spirit, and they chew thru everything. Bosses are also a breeze, as long as the crowd surrounds the monster, it doesn't stand a chance lol.
