Legit question, between DS and MP, which would be your ideal choice as the base for Enigma? I would love to hear your thoughts on this. I know some will say that Archon Plate should be in the mix, without flaming anyone, let's assume Archon Plate is not part of the equation . Select your base armor for the following categories and state why
1. Resale Value
2. Functionality
Thanks for the input homies.

I use DS Enigma with my paladin (a lot of melee dmg taken) and I feel no pain about repairing it - u find rals very often, could use them or gold (I use superior base).
Loosing 200-300-400 def points just because of laziness - that’s not my option)
MP could be easier to sell, but nevertheless

Dusk Shroud needs 77 str
Mage Plate needs 55 str which you can get from other sources without spending a single point in strength.
( Archon Plate is a trap, you'll need to waste many stat points to get even more, likely not even needed, str from Enigma)
DS makes you look like a hobo.
MP looks like a piece of actual armor.
This is the point where I, personally, am already decided.

If you get a PM offer, post it in the trade. Promote healthy competition instead of settling for less.

Judge yourself. Dusk Shroud does look subjectively bad which can affect resale value. Mage Plate is most popular in terms of look:defense:requirements ratio.
OP
DS looks pretty good on druid and paladin. I really dig the metal should plates over the gladiator type chest armor.
Dusk Shrouds make your characters look like they are forever level 1 noobs. Oh and hobo necro.
Definitely Mage Plate for the style point.
Am I the only one who likes the way Dusk Shroud looks? I made my Chains of Honor in a DS.

I can't help feeling like str points from gear you will use 100% of the time, will go to waste if you use a low str req base. Base character str + 20 + 20 from the charms is already significant, and some of your gear will likely give more depending on class and items. I'd rather min max to get use of my stats than look slightly less homeless.

Thanks for sharing that. I'd been looking for a D2R version.Cryptography wrote: 3 years ago Judge yourself. Dusk Shroud does look subjectively bad which can affect resale value. Mage Plate is most popular in terms of look:defense:requirements ratio.
Mage Plate looks pretty good for many classes, though if you are just running Barb you can get away with higher strength requirement. Also, many people find that Gothic Plate is the ideal base for Assassins. It has the red pants along with the metal torso.
I'd also note that defense tends to be overrated. Superior bases retain more trade value - especially if perfect - but I'd personally not want to use one. You get insane repair costs for a negligible increase in defense. Unless you're doing PVP it doesn't make sense to pay through the nose for every ounce of extra defense.
I lol'd. DS does makes your character look "naked." Personally, I prefer and like the way MP/AP and Russet or RogSkin looks on characters, but a high rolled DS is fine if you don't care too much about looks. Or save it for cheaper RWs, such as Smoke, etc.Bryght wrote: 3 years ago Dusk Shrouds make your characters look like they are forever level 1 noobs. Oh and hobo necro.
There is D2R
