HoZ is another great example where the odds are strong for a final defense to be lower than the previous. However, for a smiter its worth it to up it due to the increased shield

Edit: Don't forget the increased strength requirement of going from a
Gilded Shield (89 str) to a
Zakarum Shield (142). But since most smiters do CTA/Spirit on swap you should have at least 156 str anyways.

I do have Spirit on swap, but it's a paladin shield so no need for that pesky 156 STR. I am sure it will be ok though, some of the other gear has +STR. I think I might need to sac 20 points into it or so.

Pala Spirits don't need that much str.
But with torch, anni, Guilli, Enigma etc. you surpass 142 easily.
